Op shops (also known as thrift stores or charity shops) in Australia offer a wide range of common products that have been donated by individuals and businesses. These products are then sold at lower prices, making them affordable options for people on a tight budget or those looking for unique items. Here are some common products you can find at op shops in Australia:

  • Clothing: Op shops are known for their extensive range of second-hand clothing for men, women, and children. You can find a variety of clothing items including shirts, pants, dresses, jackets, and shoes. The clothing is often in good condition and can be a cost-effective way to update your wardrobe.
  • Furniture: Op shops often have a selection of furniture items such as sofas, tables, chairs, and cabinets. These items can be great for furnishing a home or adding a touch of vintage charm to your living space.
  • Books: Op shops are a treasure trove for book lovers. You can find a wide range of books including novels, non-fiction, children’s books, and cookbooks. Purchasing books from op shops not only helps you save money but also promotes recycling and reduces waste.
  • Homeware: Op shops often have a selection of homeware items such as crockery, cutlery, glassware, vases, and decorative items. These items can be great for adding a unique touch to your home or for DIY projects.
  • Electronics: While not as commonly found as other items, op shops sometimes have a selection of electronics such as TVs, DVD players, and stereo systems. It’s worth checking out the electronics section if you’re in need of a budget-friendly gadget.

Lovley shop with some reasonably priced items, biggest negative is the two larger guys I’ve met on occasions when making donations, they have a serious attitude problem and are put out if you donate items that then need to be sorted. I.e a bag with mixed items. No thanks just disgruntled huffing and puffing. They may be volunteering but manners cost nothing.

I shared my experience yesterday which I can not find now strange anyway St vinnies was selling the item the same as the normal shop price I pointed it out as it is suppose to be that bit more affordable for the people the man was rude so I call the manager Kim in the Cranbourne store the next day and told her what happened she just did not want to know what a joke this is not for the way they should treat people I will never donate or be in their store again

So here we go ! . I wasn’t sure where to post this but given it’s the same organization, it’s best here.

Your church, charity, business, run’s soup vans, I see one regularly at Narre Warren! . I assume it’s origin he’s something to do with your Cranbury op shop

One of your clients, recently seriously assaulted me , causing injuries which can’t be fixed I guess being a church you believe in the religious ideology of ” saving” all people even if evil

I will make it clear, thus assault wasn’t in the presence of your van membes , nor were they in the area, However , your church as another in Narre Warren, helps violent junkies, mental health patients , ex crims, etc . The person who assaulted me is regularly given free food by vinnies

Why are you helping the lowest of the low, of society? I have also posted a review about another local place who helps him . I will not accept, excuses like drug and alcohol use, mental health, a.d.h.d , he was bullied at school, mummy didn’t love him .

Plenty of people, have issues and aren’t violent , your van along with another organization shouldn’t be allowed to set up around a commercial shopping centre precinct, given some of the clientele you serve

I certainly won’t donate even $1 to , any church based charity ever

Isn’t it ironic? , How Centrelink pays junkies DSP , yet they can’t work

They’re fit enough though to attack a senior, I’m in that age range .. If vinnies aren’t happy with my review tough I don’t intend on removing it The attack your client committed, is on camera , but won’t be reported what hope do I have of justice, when Vinnie’s and transit church will just take a clients side

Vinnie’s appreciate the goods that I donate, they don’t throw out 90% of what you donate like Salvo,s do.. Sale prices are reasonable too if your a buyer.. I had quite a few bad experiences whilst trying to donate good new clothes at Salvo store in Cranbourne Nth, especially when I discovered most of my donations ended up in the dumpster…. just disgusted I was.. I was in Salvo store a few days ago, all you could hear is the staff in the back room smashing things that were kindly donated by genuine public being smashed in the bins..

Great place to shop and they have huge collections as well. Also, I like that they have 3 fitting rooms!

This shop has the best stock among all the opportunity shops I have been to. Doesn’t look like one either. So clean and well presented. They have brand new stock as well, at affordable prices, and the staff and volunteers are very friendly and helpful. I always had an amazing experience shopping here.

Absolutely huge! You never know what you’ll find here. They have a massive variety of things and their prices appear to be fair.

Beautiful hidden little gem, has a beautiful range of stock and not over priced like the others. Only down side is getting in and out of the tight car parks.

This is another good Salvos I visited. I bought an oversized men’s shirt with huge front pockets for $10, which looks similar to current Louis Vuitton Resort 2023 collection. Totally a good find! Staffs are very lovely too.

I absolutely love this op shop, I always walk out with a bargain and they have a large variety of items. The staff went above and beyond for me one time, allowing me to purchase a beautiful shelving unit that they were using (which I replaced with something that wasn’t as nice) Reading the older reviews, I think people confuse this Salvation Army op shop with the large Salvo’s op shop on Sth Gippsland Hwy.

  1. UPDATE! I went in to look for a set of drawers yesterday only to find 1 set of drawers full of mouse droppings. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS STORE.

Good range but so much is overpriced, especially the furniture. Their is less and less stock each time I go on. Some of it you can buy brand new cheaper than what they are selling it for.

  2. I regularly donated to this store and always went to the back of the building to leave goods. Last visit a gentleman came to the boot of my car and I asked if he wanted to see what I had to donate. He replied “Of course, we don’t want your JUNK”. Maybe the rude staff need to be trained in customer service. In future I will be taking my donations elsewhere.

  3. Staff have 0 communication skills and are just plain rude.
Went here 3 times to try and donate some teddies all in good condition.
First time was told their truck had broken down and they can only take clothes, so I decided to come back a week after as the girl who worked there asked me to do, on my only day off in the week. Pulled just past 9 am as I didn’t know they opened at 10 and a lady immediately walked up to my car to tell me they don’t open till 10 but the way she said it was in the most annoyed sounding, condescending manner acting as if I just committed a criminal offence by arriving early. So I spend some time in nearby shops and returned at 10 am to then be told, sorry we only take clothes today. I explained it would have been nice if someone had told me that an hour earlier as I just wasted a heap of time, he cut me off mid sentence several times and said this is why they encourage people to call up before they come. No one ever mentioned this to me the week prior..
I decided to never go to this particular store to donate anything again, went to the one in Narre instead on the same day and was greeted with a hello for a change which was nice and had absolutely no problems leaving my bag of teddies.
Also no one answers the phone in Cranbourne when you try to call so anyone thinking about donating anything to this store do yourselves a favour and go somewhere else.

  4. Rude staff at the donation point. Really picky with what they will take and are rather rude when it’s not up to their standard. Donated a pot with a small scratch on the lid and that was barely ‘passable’. I’ve never felt so embarrassed to donate something in my life. I didn’t bother to give the rest of the items with tags still on.

In store prices are ridiculous. Some prices are higher than buying new. Used to be my favourite opportunity shop to always visit but after two bad interactions I highly advise to stay away.

  5. Got harassed by a woman called Vicky who was 4 times older than me as a 14 year old diagnosed with anxiety. I went in the store with my mum and brother. I was looking at an item and put it back where I had found it, when Vicky, a worker, angrily complained saying “that’s not where it belongs. Loudly speaking close to yelling. When I said to her “Oh I’m sorry that’s just where I found it.” She started angrily looking at me and started slowly following me as if I was going to shoplift. Worst experience as a 14 year old diagnosed with anxiety don’t recommend coming.
