I stayed a number 106 with my pet. Finally a super clean, lovely and spacious pet friendly room!!! I highly recommend this place. I felt so so comfortable here and had an excellent night sleep. Thank you so much. I will definitely make this a permanent stopover for all Eastcoast travels in the future.

I have been a long time customer of this park and in the past I have always found it to be a great place to stay, but not this time. The standard of cleanliness and maintenance has declined. The first cabin we were checked into was definitely not ready as it was dirty, did not have a clean smell about it and the air-conditioner had been pulled apart with the filter laying on the bench and the cover leaning against the bed. I had an immediate asthma attack because the place was so dirty. I notified reception and was then given the cabin next door which was also smelly and dirty. I refused to stay in such an unclean cabin, so I was given a third cabin which was marginally better but by no means clean! There was dust on all of the ledges and window sills, cracked tiles in the bathroom and food residue on the cutlery. I attempted to show photos to the person at the check-in counter but they were not interested in looking at them. She stated that they had recently changed cleaning products! This uncleanliness has nothing to do with cleaning products! This will be the last time I stay at this park after coming here for approx 10 years because it is no longer a clean environment for me to stay.

This is not the place for a quiet overnight stay – Bruce Highway trucks pass the front gate all night – and the Main Rail Line over the back gate. Noise cancelling headphones recommended.

Please install some workshop fans in the amenities – they are literally sauna like. It’s cheap, it’s easy, and it’s just smart.

We spent the night of 12/24/23 in this campsite, we are a family of 5 and only 4 beds were made. I call the reception and they tell me that the sheets are on the bed and if I want a doona I have to come and collect it from reception. I didn’t know that when you booked an accommodation you had to make your bed.. Air conditioning cover does not hold so we saw the dirt on the filters, the curtain rods in the bedrooms falling, dirty windows. No shampoo or shower gel are offered. I do not recommend at all.

We stumbled across Southside Holiday Village after a few failed attempts at a pet friendly stop over in Rocky. We won’t stay anywhere else now while travelling to Townsville. This place is always so tidy and clean. The staff are wonderful and welcoming. Thank you for offering affordable pet friendly accomodation.

  1. Rockhampton Botanic Garden is undeniably beautiful, and I enjoyed strolling through its lush landscapes and diverse plant collections.

The garden’s well-designed pathways took me on a delightful journey through a wide variety of plant species, each more stunning than the last. The colorful blooms, lush greenery, and well-tended landscapes made for a picturesque and relaxing experience.

One of my favorite spots was the peaceful lake, where I could sit and unwind while enjoying the natural surroundings. The garden offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Rockhampton Botanic Garden is not only a beautiful place to explore but also an educational one. The informative signs and exhibits provided valuable insights into the diverse plant life, making the visit both enjoyable and enlightening.

However, I must mention that the area housing the bats was a bit of a disappointment.

The overpowering stench from the bat enclosure was a significant drawback to an otherwise pleasant visit. Additionally, I noticed some cleanliness issues in that particular section of the garden.

While I understand that bats are an essential part of the ecosystem, it would be beneficial for the management to address the odor and cleanliness concerns to enhance the overall visitor experience.

Aside from the bats’ area, the rest of the garden was well-maintained, and the variety of flora made it a lovely place to explore. The garden’s peaceful ambiance and educational exhibits were definite highlights.

I hope the management takes note of the feedback and works towards improving the bat enclosure.

  2. Great botanic gardens to visit. A good variety of exhibits from Japanese gardens to Asian fruit trees, a cenotaph and a lagoon with all kinds of bird life. It’s right next to the Rockhampton Zoo so allow at least a couple of hours if you want to see both. Nice little cafe where you can get a coffee and cake or an ice cream and sit and watch the bird life all around. Lots of Rainbow Lorikeets will come over while you’re eating and probably try to scrounge some food, but feeding them is discouraged.

  3. One of the most amazing gardens you’ll see. Some parts of it feels like a rainforest. Some very large trees grow here. The playground is nestled under all these large trees creating natural shade for the all ages of children to play. The playground itself is also amazing!! Definitely worth a visit.

  4. This was a wonderful visit for the lights display. We look forward to coming to to explore the gardens during the day and having longer play in the playground.
