Australian cuisine is the food and cooking practices of Australia and its inhabitants. Australia has absorbed culinary contributions and adaptations from various cultures around the world, including British, European, Asian and Middle Eastern.
Indigenous Australians have occupied Australia for some 65,000 years, during which they developed a unique hunter-gatherer diet, known as bush tucker, drawn from regional Australian plants and animals. Australia became a collection of British colonies from 1788 to 1900, during which time culinary tastes were strongly influenced by British and Irish migrants, with agricultural products such as beef cattle, sheep and wheat becoming staples in the local diet. The Australian gold rushes introduced more varied immigrants and cuisines, mainly Chinese, whilst post-war immigration programs led to a large-scale diversification of local food, mainly due to the influence of migrants from the Mediterranean, East Asia and South Asia.Australian cuisine in the 21st century reflects the influence of globalisation, with many fast-food restaurants and international trends becoming influential. Organic and biodynamic foods have also become widely available alongside a revival of interest in bush tucker. Australia exports many agricultural products, including cattle, sheep, poultry, milk, vegetables, fruit, nuts, wheat, barley and canola. Australia also produces wine, beer and soft drinks.
While fast food chains are abundant, Australia's metropolitan areas have restaurants that offer both local and international foods. Restaurants which include contemporary adaptations, interpretations or fusions of exotic influences are frequently termed Modern Australian.

Quite empty and we only had a quick beer but would venture back to try the burgers as they seem a main proud point of focus

Stylish interior, good beer selection. Nice music and ambience

A very cool burger joint in the heart of Cairns. Great decor inside with dining booths and wooden tables, bright and airy inside with nice music, a very welcoming atmosphere. They serve a classic beef burger and also excellent thickshakes. Delicious.

A great little place with booths as well as bar tables both inside and out to enjoy generous serves of tasty eats that are presented in record time with a tropical FNQ smile. Decore is reminiscent of a bygone era and creates a great ambience. Tables are cleared and cleaned the moment a table becomes vacant and staff are prompt, courteous, and a pleasure to deal with. Would definitely recommend it.

Jimmy’s has the best burgers in Far North Queensland, no doubt at all. Ice cold beer and a Jimmy burger is as good a time as you can have at my age.

Ordered “Boss Burger” for $22. Claims to have crispy bacon and onion rings. Pretty disappointing. The burger had two small onion rings and the bacon was far from crispy. Basically a small bacon cheeseburger. Good atmosphere, and the beer was cold.

  1. If you are looking for a quick takeaway, this is your place.
However, don’t get too excited by the good reviews this average at best. I ordered a large meal ( includes 2 curries, 2 naan, 2 rice, 2 papad, raita and chef special surprise- we got veg. Samosa). All for 60$ Plus, we got cheese garlic naan.
The naan’s were burnt(see picture attached)
Punjabi chicken was quite spicy for a spice level of medium. Kadhai paneer was average as well.
Samosa hardly had one teaspoon of filling (pictures attached) and was super oily and absolutely tastless.
Overall, the food is lower average.

  2. It was a delicious biryani we had after such a long World tour, authentic Indian taste and very overwhelming service by the staff. Would love to visit again and again whenever in town. Cheers guys!

  3. Located in the cairns CBD area. Which is close to my hotel and I saw the reviews are good so decided to check it out too.

When I arrived they were pretty short staff and they told me that it will take a long time for the order to arrive and yeah we waited.

When we arrived it was kind of empty, then came a big group of 12, then another big group of 20.

We waited around 40mins for the food to arrive. But the staff is always checking on us which is good

The food is alright, the price is about average, around 20+ per meal.

Overall it is not bad, but kudo for the friendly staff

  4. Most delicious Indian I’ve had in cairns! Everything gluten free, good vegan options. Had the lamb dish. Herbs and flavours were perfect! Staff were really friendly and catering to us. Good price.

  5. Thanks for lying. I have ordered takeaway butternan, Punjabi chicken, and saffron rice. I was surprised that my naan was ready in a sec, and I asked the lady at the front if the naan was fresh twice, and she said yes . Once I came home after a minute drive to my motel and tried it, it was suggy, and I couldn’t chew it properly. I feel like I am chewing stone. It’s funny that I tried rice after that, and it was cold and hard to eat. Check out your fresh naan that you gave me in the picture, and please don’t lie to your customer.
