Sister Elizabeth Kenny (20 September 1880 – 30 November 1952) was a self-trained Australian bush nurse who developed an approach to treating polio that was controversial at the time. Her method, promoted internationally while working in Australia, Europe and the United States, differed from the conventional one of placing affected limbs in plaster casts. Instead she applied hot compresses, followed by passive movement of the areas to reduce what she called "spasm". Her principles of muscle rehabilitation became the foundation of physical therapy or physiotherapy in such cases. Her life story was told in a 1946 film, Sister Kenny, where she was portrayed by Rosalind Russell, who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance.

Chipmunks did an excellent job with our daughters birthday and their service was great. Thank you for being helpful with a few of our requests with our cake and party bags. We also forgot our free return certificate for our daughter and Lisa messaged us to let us know, so they went above and beyond. Much appreciated. The party room was great and the kids had a blast! Cheers Lisa and the rest of the team at chipmunks! ☺️???

This is the 3rd year in a row our daughter has had her birthday party there, and we are impressed year after year. The staff are amazing, and the convenience of not needing to lift a finger is well worth the small amount it costs. The gift bags for the party child and guests have changed this year, and all children were very excited to receive these.

Attended the Halloween Party tonight with my 5 children. They had a fantastic time and I had peace of mind that they were safe (and not knocking on strangers doors). My youngest son even won one of the best dressed prizes. Food was also great and we didn’t have to wait long for it! We’ve been to the play Cafe a few times before and always loved it, but tonight was extra special! Thanks for a great time!

I cannot rate Chipmunks Toowoomba highly enough! Lisa, Ian, and the team were amazing at organising my son’s 3rd birthday party. With over 40 children, I just walked in, relaxed during the party, and walked out – I didn’t have to stress about anything. Their service, the set up, the food, the gift bags – it was all incredible! They went above and beyond, and my son had a wonderful day. Thank you all so much!!

Thank you Lisa!!!! Edwards 4th birthday! He had a great time and so did his birthday friends! Chips were really nice we ordered another lot. The equipment is so clean and different levels of activities for different ages, my son loved the hidden ball area where you put all the foam balls into machines. Children age 10 easily would have a great time due to how high slides were and exploring. We will be back as it’s a really awesome way to learn climbing skills, balancing, heights all in a safe area, perfect for children with motor skill delay such as my own boy. Lisa is a great lady who really takes pride in how her ship is run! My hat goes off to her ability to be an octopus managing everything. See you again soon

  1. A beautiful park especially in September during the Carnival of Flowers. There are plenty of spots for a picnic blanket or grab a picnic table. Options for full sun/part shade/full shade. BBQs, restrooms, playground and plenty of gardens to explore. Full accessibility on paths and a great sensory garden too. Dog-friendly too.

  2. Beautiful gardens with lots of different flowers to see. The best time to go is September with the carnival of flowers on. Plenty of parking space during the week day
Lots of green areas to have a picnic on the grass. Bbq areas and toilets are close by. There is a playground close by to. Good place for the whole family. Wheelchair friendly as well. Highly recommend going to have a look. ??

  3. Really spectacular floral displays and other interesting features. I’ve been once during the festival of flowers so I can’t say what it would look outside of this time but I imagine it still looks great as there’s plenty of attractive trees, plants and features. It would probably be a great picnic spot.

  4. A wonderful park. You can easily see love and care in this beautiful park. It’s great to see people enjoying the multiple spaces and themes.
Do yourself a favour and take some time out to take a stroll through or just relax in this special place.

  5. Laurel Bank Park is a beautiful parkland close to Toowoomba’s city centre, featuring spectacular manicured gardens, a collection of exotic trees, a playground, picnic area, and croquet greens. Beautiful year-round, but known for its sublime spring displays and avenues of cherry blossoms, it is most magnificent during Carnival of Flowers each September. The park came into being in 1932 when Darling Downs Building Society Managing Director, Mr Samuel George Stephens, donated the land to the people of Toowoomba, with the City Council official custodian. Prior to gifting the land, Mr Stephens improved it with shrubs and flowers, and was known to many as ‘the man of flowers’.
