5 months agoRecently visited this place. The prison itself is not big. The art pieces are usually displayed in prison cells. The particular exhibition on display wasn’t that great tbh but nevertheless it’s fine to visit here if your in Newcastle.4 months agoOld jail cells, and metallic fabric exhibition . An absorbing exhibit.7 months agoIt’s a very interesting art gallery set up in an old prison. It’s worth a visit! Entry is free, but you can donate $5 at the entrance if you like. I think the art is for sale as well. The prison cells are interesting to see, one cell was padded and had fingernail scratches on the door… ? We visited on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded.5 years ago✨ We visited to see the Argo Pacifico, the current installation & it was amazing! Every room of the Lock-up has been transformed into a room of a cruise ship for your to enjoy, right here in Newy! And it’s free!3 years agoHarrowing yet beautiful exhibition featuring the work of two artists. Free entry and definitely worth a look!

Great museum which offered a contemporary interpretation of Lake Macquarie and Newcastle’s urban development through art. The sculptures by the lake were also well worth seeing.
The Museum of Art and Culture was great and a really interesting exhibit about houses and letterboxes was on show.
What a beautiful setting! While a compact museum, it has a good exhibition space, a cafe and a sales shop with quality and innovative products. Love the serene grounds with sculptures and you just can’t ignore the lake views… magical. Also love the child’s artistic play area and the generous opening hours.
Bright and airy gallery space, set amongst expansive waterside parkland dotted with sculptures and large trees. Interesting history of adjacent old house. Ample parking and comfortable cafe.
Great to visit an old work of mine today. 43 months young and still looking good ??
