7 months agoNice view on a sunny day, light on details of why the barracks was operational to circa 2006. Especially after the harbour was deemed too shallow for invading warships and the gun emplacements were abandoned nearly 100 years earlier. Thought Darwin was the only city bombed by the Japanese, apparently Townsville was as well three times in a week, no damage done though.a week agoLooking at great Art work along the trails. Bottom End of Jezzine Barracks good place to sit and relax. Birds galore2 months agoLove the park. It is a gruelling walk, with many different options, we followed castle hill road as we were told that was the best to take in the views, then we came down the Goat track. I’m so not fit but it was a great achievement walking from our hotel to the top and back in just under 3 hours. Make sure you take water. The views are amazing. For those who can’t walk up, you can drive to the top.
The site to visit when in Townsville! Gorgeous views from the top. I recommend hiking up the goat track, to get the rewarding feel at the lookout, but driving is possible as well if you don’t want to get sweaty.
There are three different lookouts so you have a great view for both sunrise and sunset.
It is absolutely amazing and a must do if you are visiting Townsville. There are so many different viewing locations to give a full 360-degree view.
Parking space is available at the top but more available just a few meters before the main location.
Highly recommended.
Beautiful round the mountain view of Townsville, loved seeing the winding river AND ocean all in one spot. Cute Little walks under 300m, lots of stairs and wind. All around perfect spot to show your tourists friends (aka me).
Stunning easy walk. Absolutely beautiful view of Townsville. Worth it !
Make sure you go for the walks to the lookouts. Different views of the city awaits. Loved it. Breathtaking!
