2 weeks agoVery beautiful zoo tucked into the more rural side of Melbourne. Highlight was a picture and petting the koala Cyclops. But also seeing the kangaroos and wallabies jump and roam freely was nice.Other than the two highlights the zoo was quite boring. And expensive for what you get. I understand the money goes to conserving these precious species but the zoo was just really small and not much to get lost and do.
They should do more with the nature they offer. Like eucalyptus tree tour, plantings, product making sessions or something. And maybe create more spaces where the visitors can feel at the center of the animals they are visiting in a peaceful way. Just some suggestions to improve but it was nice overall.
a month agoOne of my favourite places to visit in VIC. We have come here multiple times before, but yesterday was a special highlight as it was our first private night tour.I always enjoy going to Moonlit Sanctuary but with many of the animals being nocturnal, it is a different experience starting a tour around dusk. For instance, it was my first time seeing a Tasmanian Devil run around (being excited about receiving his food soon) instead of sleeping in its burrow during the day. By the same token, it was fantastic to see the Koalas more active than they normally are during the day and of course my personal highlight of any visit is always the chance to get up close and feed the wallabies and kangaroos. But it was also my first time really getting close to Feathertailed Gliders , which are super cute and unbelievably soft.
Finally, I’d like to thank our guide Claudia, who was fantastic. She provided a lot of insights on the Sanctuary and the different animals and allowed us ample time to view and/or get close to the wildlife.
Overall, I can definitely and wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Moonlit Sanctuary be it during the day or at night, but if you’ve got the chance, go for one of their night tours.
in the last weekSuper fun place for someone who loved animals. Very well organised and maintained. The staff is extremely courteous and you’ll definitely have a fun time interacting with Kangaroos, Wallabies, Dingos and many other native animals.in the last weekWent there with my wife, 15 year old nephew and 15 month old granddaughter. There were no booking fees when you don’t book online. Ample parking on arrival. You can buy food for kangaroos and wallabies, but we chose not to. Be aware that if you want to attend presentations you will need to pay an additional $25 each. I didn’t realise this but we opted out of this offer. It’s a smallish venue with a range of indigenous wildlife. Pleasant walk and places to have picnics. A cafe next to the souvenier shop. It’s very child friendly. The kangaroos, wallabies and ducks look forward to being fed. Other creatures are confined to enclosures.a month agoIt was fun!! There are lots of interesting animals to see and experience options. They also offer many shows each hour. Staff were nice. The tickets are also affordable and worth the experience. I recommend visiting early in the morning or night when the animals are active ?

Healesville Sanctuary is a popular wildlife sanctuary in Victoria, Australia, known for its diverse native animal exhibits. There river passing through the sanctuary, that makes feel very natural. Also same river we can cool down with kids called Creek Play .Lots of kids park and cafeterias.. enjoying will feel relaxed
The sanctuary has most of the local Australian species some of which are endangered. They are kept in an healthy environment which is aesthetically designed.
The kangaroos and the Kualas are fun to watch.
You need a day to actually fully appreciate the place.

Amazing place for a day out with the kids. Plenty of fun animals to see, great shows and a few little play areas for the kids. We went Australia day, kids are free any public holiday or weekend.
This is my favourite zoo. The natural surrounding bush is so beautiful and the enclosures are fairly natural looking. Such a nice day out for kids. Arrive early on busy days!
We went there with a tour, but if you live nearby you can buy a membership and visit often. We tend to buy memberships to the local museum and zoo in our area and when we have visitors it’s nice to take them there.
This zoo gives you a chance to see the animals that are local to Australia, like the kangaroo, the koala etc. they have lots of play areas for younger kids.
,a few picnic areas and at different hours they have one of the caretakers come out and talk about a certain species of animal found there. If there are specific topics you are interested in, I would suggest to look at their website and know what time they have their talks and where, to plan for that.
The best part for us was at the end they have a bird show at 3pm where the trainers come out to show your a few if the species they take care of and your studio see how well the birds they have are trained. It’s pretty impressive.
The downside is that it was a bit hot day and most animals are napping in the shade with their face hidden.
Perhaps it’s better to buy tickets yourself instead of paying a tour company to take you. You will have more time to do as you please. The main issue you will have is how to get there.. but if you are local.. you probably won’t have that issue 😉
