I highly recommend to visit this place. There many tracks, different themes, lots of seats and parking around the garden. Very thoughtful of people who can’t walk much for whatever reason, they can park at many locations, please call the office for more information or look their map. I admire Japanese garden, but also walking in leafy, cool pathways was quite enjoyable. Don’t miss lookout , interesting view to city . There so much to see, Planetarium,Art room,Fern House, Amphitheatre. I would need all day if you like to explore all these. It worth to spend all day there.

Mt.Coot-tha Botanical Gardens are SUPERB! There are SO many different themed gardens covering a huge variety of interesting plants, even a Bonsai House and a Japanese Garden. Water features galore, great picnic spots, easy walking with lots of benches to sit down and simply appreciate nature, and a cafe/restaurant for a casual meal and ice cold beer. One needs a full-day here to truly appreciate the beauty of everything. The walks are very well marked and sign-posted too. PLUS the Planetarium isvery well worth a visit, and take in a show while you’re there! Well so definitely be coming back. And again, and again.

A place with great potential, but unfortunately not well looked after i would say. ? Although it closes at 6, it’s important to note that all attractions inside and parking get closed at 4! After that, you may still park next to the planetarium and use the small gate next to the information centre to enter and to have a walk in the garen.

Got to the gardens late in the day so did not have time to explore all of the gardens. What we did see was very well maintained with a large variety of plants/trees/flowers. We will go back again to enjoy the entire gardens at a leisurely pace. A must see if you visit Brisbane.

  1. Beautiful gardens with lovely walk along the river. The gardens are filled with spring flowers at the moment. Pathways are accessible and there are toilets in the gardens. A lovely playground for the children to explore in the gardens as well. The lights ales show currently on at night was beautiful, lots of lights and music. Absolutely worth a visit.

  2. Really enjoyable location for a morning stroll / run. It is quite serene in the morning as there aren’t too many people. It is also relatively large with set paths that lead to different areas to explore. I’d recommend coming here either in a group or with a friend, or even alone. There are beautiful flowers and plants to appreciate – whether you are a fan of plants/flowers or not!

  3. Overall a great garden in the city but small and bare compared to other botanical gardens I have been to around the world. They did have some water bodies and well as few water fountains. Any greenery is great to see within the urban environment. There were lots of bin chickens and Guanas and various birds so wild life was plenty in here. Also being close to the river makes it special too!

  4. The Brisbane Botanic Gardens offer a captivating escape into nature within the heart of the bustling city. Spanning 52 hectares along the Brisbane River, this botanical haven boasts a diverse collection of flora that showcases the rich biodiversity of Australia. The meticulously curated themed sections, including the Fragrant Garden and the Tropical Display Dome, provide a delightful sensory experience.

The well-maintained walking paths guide visitors through a lush landscape, with ample seating areas encouraging moments of contemplation. The breathtaking views of the city skyline add a unique touch to the overall ambiance. The gardens also feature educational signage, enriching the experience by offering insights into the various plant species and their ecological significance.

One highlight is the serene Japanese Garden, a tranquil oasis with a peaceful pond and traditional architecture. Families will appreciate the Children’s Trail, an interactive and engaging way for kids to learn about the natural world.

While entry is free, donations are encouraged to support ongoing conservation efforts. The friendly and knowledgeable staff further enhance the visit, providing valuable information and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a family seeking a day of exploration, or someone looking for a peaceful retreat in the midst of city life, the Brisbane Botanic Gardens offers a refreshing and rejuvenating experience for all.

  5. The Garden is an exceptional oasis of tranquility and natural beauty. Its expansive collection of native and exotic plants is both impressive and educational. The Japanese Garden is a serene highlight, and the Bonsai House is absolutely enchanting. With the addition of the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium and the Tropical Dome, the gardens offer a comprehensive experience that blends horticultural diversity with environmental awareness. This place is a must-visit for anyone in Brisbane, perfect for both plant lovers and those seeking a peaceful retreat in nature.
