a week agoThe Village is a reliable and awesome accommodation but you need to get rid of your awful security guards. I’m a regular who’s been supporting the Village for over 3 years and I’m appalled by the treatment me and some of my friends have received at the hands of one of the security guards working. You shouldn’t bother people resting or just catching a nap on the upper floors. Life is tough you know? Who are they harming? After 14 hours waiting at the hospital and arriving at the Village I fell asleep by accident and was treated appallingly by one of your guards. I woke up to him grinning and standing over me and mocking me. Security guards should serve to protect guests from sexual or fellow guest violence and go above and beyond to make sure guests and non-guests both have a memorable impression of the Village. ESPECIALLY regulars! Tell your guards to value your regulars as the income stream they bring is invaluable! Reception is great and go above and beyond to help and value regular and seasonal guests. Security staff should be trained to do the same to ensure lasting crucial customer satisfaction.2 weeks agoThe staff are awesome! Sandy especially is a vibe, and Conner is professional and super helpful – made me feel like family! Would recommend 10/102 months agoIf I was to sum up my stay in a word it would be dissatisfying. The room I stayed in was a 6-person dorm and made me feel very claustrophobic due to a lack of floor space, tightly packed bunk beds, a window that wouldn’t open, and an awful smell in the room (see below for image of room).
The spring mattresses were uncomfortable to lie on and the bedside socket was awkwardly positioned half way up the wall, making it difficult to position your phone when charging.
The kitchen, like most hostels was crammed at peak times, with very little space in fridges, kitchen utensils were satisfactory.
The best part of my stay was the gym, which is nicely kitted out with Rogue squat racks, dumbbells up to 30kg, an assault bike and sled push.
3 weeks agoHad a great time here! Events are so fun and are a great way to meet people. The staff are all super friendly and helpful, big shoutout to Sandy for putting on some great events and always being around for a chat4 weeks agoHorrible amenities. Went down to reception because one of the fridges had turned hot and ruined our food. I went down and asked them about reimbursement for the food and they said I needed to keep a photo of my bag and an itemized receipts. Like as if we are supposed to expect the hostels fridge to become an oven and retain both of those things. When my friend and I arrived my bed had no accessible ladder and i was sleeping on the top bunk. The cleaners also left the bed without a pillow on it so I used the blanket as both a pillow and blanket. The bar staff are quite cool. But all in all, a dump and a bad stay.

I stayed at Space with Welcome to Travel.
The facilities in Space are like no other hostel I’ve ever been to, they have a gym, big open space kitchen and rooftop with the best views in Melbourne. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms were kept very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. I also enjoyed all the free activities they put on for guest such as the BBQ on Sundays and free fresh fruit at Reception every morning. The location is perfect to explore central Melbourne and to begin your adventure!
Had a fantastic stay at Space Hotel to start the new year. After a rough stay in Sydney, this property was significantly better. Has a small fitness centre (could use some free weights IMO), pool on the roof, large kitchen with plenty of cooking space, and the staff are incredible. Location is superb as well. Easy to get around and the free trams and bus are accessible right nearby.

It was a great start to hostel life in Australia. With large lockers to put your bags in, and private bathrooms instead of communal. The view from the rooftop is spectacular. And honestly felt like home after staying there for over a week. If I ever go back to Melbourne I will definitely check back in there.
I stayed 4 nights at Space Hotel and honestly had the best experience and time. The place is clean, air conditioning works really well, there’s a well equipped gym and work room with good wifi.
Staff members were super friendly, professional and made me want to stay longer in Melbourne. Special thanks to Lisa who us feel at home. We will be back soon!
I recently stayed at a hostel and had a fantastic experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, I would like to mention Kathy for her great help and talent. The facilities were clean and well-maintained. I met some great fellow travelers during my stay, and the communal spaces provided the perfect atmosphere for socializing and getting to know each other. Additionally, the location was excellent and allowed for easy access to all of the nearby attractions. Overall, I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for an affordable and enjoyable travel experience..
