My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in Room 8. As seasonal hostel travellers this was a disappointing stay. Biggest gripe was there was no aircon or fans. You cannot even get a fan from the reception. We cooked in our twin share room both nights. The outside lights were on all night and not activated by sensor. So it was bright in our room even with the curtains closed. Having the curtains closed made the airflow worse. Also room 8 is a high traffic area for other guests. It was so noisy all night long. You can also hear the guests in the room above you.

    Overall disappointing stay.

Only saving grace was that the hostel was relevantly clean and modern.

Rooms were a little cramped but everything was clean and the bunks had chargers and curtains. Kitchen and dining area is a modest size but nice enough. Real issue with this place is the service. The two people that checked in ahead of me and my friend had problems with their rooms and the front desk clerk did nothing to help them. Really just shrugged off their problems. After checking in we were struggling to find our room. The clerk didn’t tell us where to go and even walked past us struggling to find it, looked at us, and walked off. Later when me and my friend couldn’t find a freezer we asked the same clerk if they had one and he told us if we couldn’t see one they didn’t have it. We double checked and there was a deep freezer on the patio. Upon checking out we asked where there storeroom was (every other Haka we stayed in had one that was locked after you put your stuff in). He said to just leave our bags in the unlocked and often unattended lobby. Overall just rude, uninterested guest services. Really added some frustration to our stay.

A lot of dead bugs in women bathroom, the bins in the kitchen were only emptied once a day and therefore always overfilled. The halls were not really clean. The kitchen was nice and really well equippend and apart from the room being a little small and hot, it was tidy and the furniture nice.

Stayed here with my partner for 6 nights and found the overall the experience was pretty great. We had some very hot weather which made experience good and bad. The rooms while comfortable lacked ventilation. Although is not their fault because of the weather it was a struggle to sleep a few nights as the humidity was high. A fan would have to made the difference. The USB plugs and tv and fridge were all very useful. I found that the walls in between rooms were very thin and you could often hear other guests. Kitchen facilities were great loads of pans and plates and clean utensils no fault there. This place is really great but the main issue was the entire vibe of the place felt a bit stale and awkward.

It was a warm night, and I stayed in a room with six bunk beds. Unfortunately, there was no air conditioning or fan, only a tiny window I had to keep closed for privacy. As a result, it was very hot inside, and I didn’t get much sleep.

The facility was cluttered with stuff everywhere. There were piled-up linens in the lobby, a floor cover for painting jobs in the hallway, and a vacuum parked in the doorway the entire time I stayed there for three nights.

I kept my food in a bag in the communal refrigerator with my name and dates on it. However, the next day, I found out that someone had gone through my bag and misplaced items outside to place their items inside. I complained to the staff, but unfortunately, no one seemed to care.

Compared to the price, it’s good value, but it seemed no one cared disappointingly for their services and customers’ experiences during the stay.

  1. This place is great.
Very affordable and still having quite a number of amenities. The best being all guests having access to both the hot and cold pools. Basic pools they are but very much of value for what we paid for. The Cabin we booked was doe 3 couples so we got 3 rooms but there were corridor bu k beds x4 and a sofa bed too. So plenty of sleeping area. Close to city and in terms of safety, you are well protected. An affordable family home

  2. Edge of Rotorua but still crazy close to everything. Great rooms which are very cosy, pretty and at a great price. Bathrooms are okay, but provide everything you need. Hot tub was closed ?, but we got to use the family tub. Pool was nice.

Games Room was closed for another group which was a bummer though.

So many extras that are here, makes it a fun stay!

  3. Adequate camp sight, all amenities were clean, including hot pools and outdoor swimming area. The rooms were warm and comfortable, but could use a little TLC. The camp kitchen was not equipped, so I had to pay to rent utensils, which were not in the best condition, but there was a very nice camper’s herb garden. The kitchen in the room was a bit too small to use at all. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The location was fine if you have a vehicle but not in walking distance to stores or areas of interest.

  4. Great spot close to the mountain bike park,

Had our poptop camper out for another holiday unfortunately this time it rained, and our 40 odd year old camper had a few leaks!

Facilities at the camp were good there’s plenty of kitchen area for dishes and cooking,

The hot pools are great, 1 family hot pool and 1 family outdoor pool, then 3 other hot pools that are nice and hot

  5. We truly enjoyed our stay at the cabin here. The facilities are spacious & clean. The thermal hot pools are decent. It is cute that they have a herb garden if you cook when camping.
