I managed to get an appointment at short notice. Booked online where I could choose a time that suited me. Dr was easy to understand, thorough and referred me for some test to get to the bottom of the issue. Very happy with the service.

We were visiting from interstate and called ahead while driving in from the rock after our 4yo fell and cut under his chin. We were able to see an amazing female Dr (Mahmoud ?) who was so friendly and attentive! Receptionist was also super friendly and got me chatting, helping with our worry. This was an evening appt on 30/12 and I really didn’t want to have to spend 5hrs waiting in emergency if we could avoid it!

Although I’d like to get right into my review, I fear I cannot say too much through recent stories on the news about being sued for writing a bad review . Apparently you are only supposed to write GOOD reviews. Having said that. Let me start by saying the receptionist was lovely. Very friendly. Let’s just say mine was not a good experience. Even though this doctor would not give me my regular Meds Prescription, she then proceeded to lecture me about WHY I was on them. She then attacked my specialist, saying he should be doing MORE . Then as I was telling her about my recent stint in Hospital FOR my ailments, she got up, walked to the door. Opened it and stood there. This I assumed was my queue to leave. As I walked past her, I thanked her. Her response through gritted teeth, ENJOY YOUR TRIP. I have never come across a Doctor so rude I WONT BE BACK.

When visiting a General Practitioner (GP) in Australia, it is important to consider a few key things to ensure a smooth and effective medical consultation. Here are some aspects to keep in mind:

  • Healthcare Access: In Australia, healthcare is primarily delivered through a system called Medicare. To access Medicare benefits, you need a Medicare card, which can be obtained by enrolling in Medicare as an eligible person.
  • Choosing a GP: It is recommended to choose a GP who is conveniently located and who understands your specific healthcare needs. You can ask for recommendations from friends, family, or local healthcare professionals.
  • Appointments: GPs in Australia generally work by appointment. It is advisable to call in advance and schedule an appointment to ensure you get the necessary attention and avoid long waiting times.
  • Medical History: It is important to provide your GP with accurate and up-to-date information about your medical history, including previous treatments, allergies, chronic conditions, and medications you are currently taking.
  • Communication: Open and honest communication with your GP is essential. Be prepared to articulate your concerns, symptoms, or any questions you may have. It is also advisable to ask questions if you do not understand something.
  • Language and Cultural Considerations: If English is not your first language, it is recommended to bring along a trusted interpreter or someone who can assist you in communicating effectively with your GP.
  • Prescriptions and Referrals: If your GP prescribes medication or refers you to a specialist, they will provide you with a prescription or a referral letter. Keep these documents safe, as you will need them to access the prescribed medication or specialist services.
  • Payment: While Medicare covers a portion of the consultation fee, you may still be required to pay a gap fee. The amount and payment method may vary depending on the GP and the healthcare practice. It is advisable to inquire about the expected fees before your appointment.

  1. I love bringing my 2 babies to this Vet. The whole Team are happy to be there and show how they truely care for my girls and other peoples pets. The environment is relaxed and puts the animals at ease which is such an important undertaking as it makes their experience at being ‘taken to the vet’ a more joyous occasion. I know Nikita wants to run inside tail wagging ?

  2. Couldn’t have asked for a more helpful team when adopting my gorgeous little puppy. Honest and great communication. Thank you for saving little Brad’s life and all the wonderful care and time you gave him. I love him to pieces! He’s an amazing little guy.

  3. Took amazing care of our little girl from the start. Thorough testing, great care, even photos each night she had to stay there. Couldn’t have asked more from lake road vets. I’m sure Dasha knew she was being helped. Thanks again

  4. All staff were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Caring staff who love and are passionate about their job made handling stressful times more manageable. There was great flexibility to see my dog while he was in the hospital and the staff were very accommodating. Communication was also excellent, with regular updates on how my dog was going, and the daily photo sent of him each morning was very much appreciated. A special shout out to Dr Lachlan for saving my dogs life after he was bitten by a brown snake. Thank you Lake Road Vets!

  5. Thank you for your care and compassion to our two senior dogs. The staff and Vets are extremely supportive and understanding during the last days of Maya of which we are grateful. You are a blessing to our pets and us furparents.
