My God this place is beyond words. Coolest little primitive and antique shop I’ve ventured to in awhile. Wonderful owners, they’ve been around quite awhile. We purchased a few items simply because the woman was so kind, patient and lovely. She answered any questions about items even gave a history of the item. They have some items that aren’t for sale but the neatest display ever. There is a ramp between sides that has a neon light stating dead souls, with items that authentically came from dead people. There’s a backroom with really cool crafted items the gentleman owner has made himself.

What a lovely antiques store. It reminded me of a British TV show, a costume store for shows and the Mutter Museum, a little of each. The items are displayed beautifully. Such a wonderful collection of antiques that were kept in great condition. Beautiful one of a kind pieces that would make great gifts.

My friend and I visited and had a lovely time. The place was beautiful and the antiques were reasonably priced given the history and quality of them. The owner was also SO welcoming and warm. She helped me find an adorable pair of cat-shaped earrings that I ended up purchasing. I look forward to hopefully visiting again!

If you are looking for some unusual (particularly macabre) antiques, this may be a great store to visit. They have a lot of items inside their shop, and it makes for a great display.

A little expensive but it had an incredible selection of the kinds of items we gravitate towards. We saw things like taxidermy, a human skeleton, Victorian furniture and memorabilia, medical tools and items, plus lots of gorgeous antique lamps and chandeliers. Definitely worth a stop, highly recommend!

I recently had the pleasure of Goods, and I loved it! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the store’s unique aesthetic. The space was beautifully curated, with a mix of vintage and curated art pieces that were expertly arranged.

The selection of accessories was impressive, with a wide range of styles, sizes, and eras represented. I was particularly impressed by the selection and quality of vintage watches, rings and other jewelry. They were all in excellent condition and looked just like they did on their Instagram!

The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, funny, and cute, and they were happy to help me with any questions I had. They had a great sense of style and gave me great advice on how to style the pieces I was interested in. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for unique and stylish vintage pieces. It’s a must-visit destination for any vintage lover in Philadelphia.

Had an amazing experience at goods. Came in looking for a chain, and found exactly what I wanted with the help of super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of jewelry, watches, shelf/wall art, and so much more – I could spend hours looking through their collection. Special thanks to Rosa for the help in store and the great recommendations around the city

It is my great pleasure to recommend this beautiful hidden palace, it’s a treasure trove full of timeless remnants from a bygone era. The store has a friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff of Tony, Rosa and Jana. The prices are very reasonable for items that I believe one would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. This little enclave is the bomb. The curator, I believe his name is Keith, has impeccable taste that is wide in its range and scope. A Must to checkout. Happy shopping ?.

Discovered goods vintage in 2020 and it’s a definite must visit when in philly. So many cool, unique items. Just go to look around and I promise you’ll end up finding something. I’ve purchased several sterling silver jewelry pieces that I adore and wear all the time for a great price. Oh and the staff is so cute and friendly.

Hands down the best vintage shop to go to in this part of town! I love spending the day in the Italian market and going to goods! The selection of art, home decor, furniture and ancient artifacts are really rare and whoever picks the stuff has excellent taste… this is NOT thrifted marked-up junk. Best place to find jewelry, they have really high end and also cheaper options! Love goods

How to Shop Smart at Antique Store Philadelphia PA: A Quick Tutorial

Shopping at an antique store can be a wonderful experience, filled with hidden treasures and unique finds. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just starting out, here are some guidelines to help you make the most of your antique store shopping:

  • 1. Do your research: Before you go shopping, spend some time researching different types of antiques you’re interested in. This will help you identify valuable pieces and give you a better understanding of their history and significance.
  • 2. Know your budget: Set a budget for yourself before going to the antique store. This will prevent you from overspending and help you prioritize your purchases.
  • 3. Examine the condition: Carefully inspect the condition of the items you’re interested in. Look for any cracks, chips, or signs of damage. Keep in mind that some wear and tear is expected with antiques, but make sure it’s something you’re comfortable with.
  • 4. Ask questions: Don’t be afraid to ask the store owner or staff questions about the item you’re interested in. They may be able to provide you with more information about its history, origin, or value.
  • 5. Negotiate the price: In most antique stores, the price is negotiable. Don’t hesitate to make a reasonable offer, especially if the item has been sitting in the store for a while. However, be respectful and understand that the store owner may not be willing to budge on the price.
  • 6. Take measurements: If you’re shopping for furniture, make sure to take measurements of the space where you plan to place the item. This will help you determine if it will fit properly in your home.
  • 7. Trust your instincts: When it comes to antiques, sometimes you have to trust your gut feeling. If something catches your eye and speaks to you, go for it. You never know when you’ll come across a one-of-a-kind piece.

  1. A must see, they have such beautiful stuff, it’s like being in a museum. When you walk in there you know you’re going to want to buy everything they sell.
Be prepared to be in all of the beauty and Oddities.

  2. I’ve been shopping at Material Culture for about 20 years — and it’s always a fun adventure. You never know quite what you will find, but they have consistently great products. I’ve purchased amazing cabinets, buffets, wall art, chairs, and more (See accompanying photo). Prices are very reasonable. They offer delivery in the Philly area (which means you don’t have to play Jenga in the back of your SUV)

  3. In from Austin, Tx, my friend Roya introduced me to this establishment. What an assortment of quality rugs and wooden furniture. Very distinctive selection and helpful staff to add. If they sold wine by the glass you could spend a couple hours socializing and gazing at the two story walls with lights everywhere.

  4. Such a unique place! If you are looking for home goods that are unlike the big box stores you should come here. The prices of items vary widely. We picked up a beautiful textile I want to use for a tablecloth for $25 and we found a cool rug for $150 or so. Some of the rugs were priced into the thousands. Art, lighting, furniture can all also be found at material culture.

  5. Fabulous art and artifacts from around the world! The pricing is middle of the road and stays affordable. Plus some smaller shops featuring global family clothing and accessories. Enchanting atmosphere all around and the music is refreshingly eclectic A big plus.
