Pros and Cons of Shopping at Coles

When it comes to choosing where to do your grocery shopping, you may be considering the convenience of a supermarket like Coles or opting for a traditional market. Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages, depending on your specific needs and preferences.

Here are some pros and cons of choosing Coles as your shopping destination:

  • Convenience: Coles is a one-stop shop where you can find everything you need in one place. It offers a wide range of products, from fresh produce to household items, making it convenient for shoppers to get all their essentials in a single visit.
  • Price competitiveness: Supermarkets like Coles often run promotions and offer discounted prices, making it more affordable for customers to shop for groceries. Coles also has a loyalty program, providing additional savings and benefits for its customers.
  • Accessibility: Coles stores are present in various locations, including urban and suburban areas, making it easily accessible for most shoppers. They also offer extended operating hours, providing flexibility for customers to shop at their preferred time.
  • Online shopping: Coles provides an online shopping platform, allowing customers to conveniently order their groceries from the comfort of their homes. This can be beneficial for individuals who prefer to avoid crowded spaces or have difficulty physically visiting the store.

On the other hand, traditional markets also have their own set of advantages and disadvantages:

  • Freshness: Traditional markets often pride themselves on offering fresh and locally sourced produce. Shoppers can find a variety of fruits, vegetables, seafood, and meat that are often sourced directly from farmers or fishermen. This can be particularly appealing for individuals who prioritize high-quality and organic products.
  • Social interaction: Traditional markets provide an opportunity for shoppers to interact with local vendors and build personal connections. It allows customers to ask questions, receive recommendations, and learn more about the origin and production practices of the products they are purchasing.
  • Potential for haggling: In traditional markets, there is often room for negotiation and haggling over prices. Shoppers can try to get a better deal by leveraging their bargaining skills, potentially leading to additional savings.
  • Cultural experience: Traditional markets offer a unique cultural experience, with vibrant displays of local products and flavors. They can provide a sense of authenticity and a glimpse into the local traditions and customs of the community.
  • Availability: Traditional markets may have limitations in terms of product availability, especially when it comes to specialty or international items. They may also have limited operating hours and be located in more specific areas, requiring additional time and effort to access for some customers.

  1. I am very impressed with Coles Bathurst array of speciality cheeses. To me much more extensive and unique than other Bathurst outlets.

I also noticed on their cheese/deli counter brochures advertising Deli Platters you can order. Have included pics

The two staff at Deli counter were really interested in their products for sale. How refreshing!

  2. The deli at Coles Bathurst is pretty bad, the staff won’t or don’t like to do what you ask them, for example I didn’t like the look of the precut cold meat I wanted, so I asked for it to be cut fresh, I kid you not this employee was furious and made it quite clear she wasn’t happy, plus I wanted it shaved….. it wasn’t shaved but sliced , its like walking on eggshells asking for what you want, management has been made aware of this before and done nothing,

  3. Will not shop here because of the stores tiny little man syndrome, & now passed the little man torch to the next generation of tools on the Dock. Well done coles for hiring the most precious girly men in Bathurst

  4. Tbh worst Coles franchise I’ve ever seen. Some staff great but others, just being basic. In the past they even accused me of stealing (just after I’d finished helping TWO OF THEIR SENIOR CITIZEN CUSTOMERS FINISH THEIR SHOPPING with 1 of them in a wheelchair). They’ve apologised on Socials but Bathurst store still haven’t… wtaf
