Pros and Cons of Shopping at Woolworth

Woolworths and traditional markets both offer different shopping experiences that cater to different needs and preferences. Here are some pros and cons to consider when choosing between the two:

Woolworth:

  • Pros:
  • – Convenience: Woolworths stores are typically located in easily accessible areas, making it convenient for shoppers to visit.
  • – Wide variety: Woolworths offers a wide range of products, including groceries, clothing, household items, and electronics, providing shoppers with one-stop shopping convenience.
  • – Quality assurance: Woolworths often offers branded products, ensuring a certain level of quality for shoppers.
  • – Online shopping: Woolworths also provides the option for shoppers to purchase items online and have them delivered to their doorstep, saving time and effort.
  • Cons:
  • – Higher prices: Compared to traditional markets, Woolworths products are generally priced higher due to factors such as branding and convenience.
  • – Limited bargaining: Shoppers may not have the opportunity to negotiate prices or bargain with sellers as they would in traditional markets.
  • – Less personal interaction: The shopping experience at Woolworths may lack the personal interaction and connection that can be found in traditional markets.

Traditional market:

  • Pros:
  • – Lower prices: Traditional markets often offer products at lower prices compared to Woolworth, as they usually source directly from producers or wholesalers.
  • – Bargaining opportunities: Shoppers can negotiate prices or bargain with sellers, potentially obtaining better deals.
  • – Fresh and local products: Traditional markets are known for offering a variety of fresh and locally sourced products, allowing shoppers to support local businesses and enjoy a unique shopping experience.
  • – Personal interaction: Shoppers can directly communicate with sellers, forming connections and gaining insights about the products they are purchasing.
  • Cons:
  • – Limited variety: Traditional markets may have a limited range of products compared to larger stores like Woolworth.
  • – Inconvenience: Traditional markets are often located in specific areas, requiring shoppers to travel to reach them.
  • – Time-consuming: Shopping at traditional markets can be more time-consuming due to the need to visit multiple stalls or vendors to find everything on your shopping list.

The best you could say about this store is its convenience. The store is so poorly stocked especially fruit and vegetable department. Seafood not any better. Treated very rudely by a certain member of staff without any real resolution in spite of involving management. Will not be returning to this store any time soon.

My visits here are usually short and sweet. As they are close to home, and have almost everything I need. They always have happy, helpful staff. And prices are always pretty competitive

Staff are friendly and helpful but I hate coming here. I often am not able to find everything on my shopping list and have gotten stuck in the parking about 5 times because the gates don’t work properly. With people waiting in a cue behind me I’ve had to buzz for help and eventually I am let out. You’d think someone would do something about that.

Nice, Big and New. Had lots to choose from, a variety of meats that I don’t usually see and liked the fact that they had ready to eat nibbles (pies etc) and fresh made sushi. Was pretty impressed I guess being brand new definitely helps. Parking was ample and easy access and egress.

Modern, Spacious and Large Woolworths at Southport Park Shopping Centre.

Great Variety of Fruit & Veg, Meat, Bakery Items Dairy & General Grocery Lines.

Only 2 Stars as There was Just One Register Open !! With MANY Customers Waiting !!
How Can a Large Store, Such as This Justify Only Having ONE Register Open ?? Especially When So Many Customers Are Waiting ??

Two staff members, blonde older ladies, who were in the produce department, I asked one where something was, she gave me attitude and said “in the produce section.” I’d already been wandering around the produce section for about ten minutes trying to find said item as this is not my local store and I was very unfamiliar with the layout. The item ended up being in the very far corner. I asked the second lady a separate question about 5 minutes later only to be greeted with the same attitude. It made me not want to ask other staff any questions and I left with much less items than I wanted.

The lady at checkout was my only positive experience with staff.

Really deserves 0 stars. Like many reviews, the service at this place is terrible.

Danny Lee , who works at the fresh product section gets annoyed when customers check the quality of the fruit. Apparently customers need to get his permission to do that? What a joke lol.

As I was confused by his random outburst…he became more aggressive and confrontational, at one point, he got so close to my face like he wanted to fight me.

The entire time, spilling diatribe about all the fruit & vege being the same quality and customers should seek his permission before picking them up to check the quality.

The incident was forwarded to the front desk, because the store manager said she was too busy to come out. It was then forward to Woolworths head office, and as expected, it was a waste of time.

    Really awful experience.

Lady manager – Learn some manners. You dont need to shout if someone is buying grocery just at 9. You should have comfirmed with staff first whom I asked and she said yes I can get Tomatoes. Its not that big crime. Go get some life. Learn management later.

They have an incredibly wide variety of items.
    – Outdoor, shaded parking.
    – Wheelchair friendly.
    – Toilets are located in the shopping centre down a corridor next to the optometrist.

  1. A little disappointed. I’ve been going to Australia Fair since I was a child. Even before it became Australia Fair my parents would go to the Hotel for drinks and food.

Yes, they did a renovation a couple of years ago and it looked fresh and updated.
But, this week we went only to find out most of the retail shops had left. It felt like a renovation in process but, it wasn’t.

We were very happy to know that Kmart and the pub upstairs was still open.
We enjoyed our lunch at the pub. It’s still very busy and the food was affordable and delicious.

  2. Really good. We were there several times and not familiar with the layout but we managed all our choirs from food, appliances, clothes and optical without drama. Ps Thanks to the nice centre and shop staff for directions, not to mention kind locals who also helped us Sydney yokels.

  3. The service was standard. I felt like I was the employee working there. I greeted her first with a friendly smile, it was like I was dealing with a robot. Maybe stocking shelves would be suitable, not/or lack of interacting with customers.

  4. My phone was out of battery when I tried to pay the glossary tonight. Two super lovely ladies(one at self-checkout and one at the service desk) helped me out by finding me a charging cable. They really saved my day. Thank you!

  5. Self service assistant was very rude yesterday. She only attended to people in her eyesight. I stood for 5 minutes with red light, but she attended to several other people. When she finally turned around, she still didn’t see me at first. When I suggested she scan the area more and serve in order, she said that other people were closer to her. She was so rude. I have visual impairment and use a cane to assist me to get around. I didn’t need to be spoken to so rudely. Then person next to me complained and they copped the abuse as well. Not the first time I have experienced rudeness from staff in this area. Time to change shopping venues.
