6 months agoWouldn’t go near this brunch staff are very rude. Kiwi bank needs to be sold and privatised. wouldn’t go near this brunch at all as all staff have no customer service skills . We got told from kiwi bank Feilding to come here with out an appointment to set up at bank account. We had already completed the online set up process and even though there was 6 people not doing any thing at all was told to book up a time another date the manager was extremely rude and has major controlling issues. Really hard to deposit cash to the business account during these hours when trying to run a business as well as the time in line to get in. I needed a change made to one of the cards on our business account. After driving almost an hour to get to the closest ASB branch, the staff member at the counter told me I could go home and do it online. Even though I was already physically standing in the bank, they didn’t complete the necessary process, which we needed quickly. When I got back home and tried to do it online, a message popped up to say I couldn’t do it online, and either had to do it over the phone, or go to a local branch. (The closest branch is over 65 km away). It was very frustrating. Eventually I got someone at the call centre who was able to complete the process for me over the phone. Then I had to wait another week for a new card to be sent out, by which time it was too late for what we originally needed it for. If it had been done at the branch I first went to, it would have taken 5 minutes, and I would have had it straight away. It didn’t make us feel as if our business transactions are important to the ASB. No wonder all the branches are closing down, if the customers are not being served when they go there.
Staff always helpful, take time needed to meet the needs of those they are serving. Staffing numbers most days I come in to do my banking seem under numbers required as there can be quite a wait to be served. As another reviewer noted that considering the profits banks are making increased staffing levels should be doable.
My recent interactions with ASB customer service department and this branch in particular have been nothing short of a nightmare.
First and foremost, the communication from the bank has been utterly inadequate. It feels like pulling teeth to get a simple response to my inquiries or concerns. Emails go unanswered, and phone calls are met with long waiting times and unhelpful representatives who lack the basic knowledge required to address my concerns. This level of incompetence is simply unacceptable.
Furthermore, the lack of empathy and professionalism displayed by the bank’s staff is astonishing. Instead of providing genuine assistance, I encountered condescending attitudes and a complete disregard for my concerns. It is clear that they have no understanding of the importance of customer satisfaction and the impact their behavior has on the bank’s reputation.
The worst part is that despite numerous attempts to resolve my issues, the bank has shown no accountability or willingness to rectify the situation. Instead of taking responsibility for their mistakes, they pass the buck and provide no concrete solutions. This blatant disregard for their customers’ well-being is outrageous and speaks volumes about their commitment to providing quality service.
I would also like to highlight the lack of proper feedback mechanisms and escalation procedures. It seems the bank has conveniently created a system that discourages customers from expressing their concerns or seeking resolution. This level of arrogance and apathy towards customer feedback is unacceptable in today’s competitive banking industry.
To anyone considering banking with ASB, I strongly advise you to think twice. If you value your time, sanity, and the importance of being treated with respect, steer clear of this bank and this branch particularly. Their customer service is a disgrace and does not reflect the standards expected in today’s service-oriented world.

If I could, I would give them zero stars. This is truly the worst bank in New Zealand and the staff in Palmerston North in particular are not only rude and nasty, but completely incompetent.
What’s the point of having a branch in Palmerston North if you can’t even do anything to help your customers? I honestly feel like Leah and her staff get a perverse sense of joy out of being the most unhelpful they can possible be.
After numerous frustratingly useless interactions with this bank I have decided to take my money elsewhere and I would suggest that you do the same.
