4 months agoA beautiful, well maintained garden. Can easily find sunny or shady spots with the abundance of benches and grass. Public toilet available on site. Plenty of different nooks and corners to give you a variety of experiences – areas with streaming water, rows of flowers, more public spots to feel part of the community, or semi private nooks with less people to just relax in nature. Free parking available but limited and in high demand.a week agoGrabbed some Domino’s Pizza and had lunch at the St. Kilda Botanical Gardens. It’s really nice, quite and relaxing. Trees and palms provide for shade, toilets and bins provided. You may bring your ?. Great place. Highly recommend!4 months agoThis place really is a delight. I walk through it daily and it continues to inspire and ground me (as it does many others). What bliss to see people enjoying these sprawling gardens in such deliciously varied ways. Picnics, people reading under giant tree canopies. Duck watching on the pond, photographing the plentiful bulbs now in flower. Peaceful, delightful, restorative.2 months agoThis is a really nice small public garden, there were lots of people using them, for picnics playing, walking the dog, just enjoying the sunshine and time together, there were plenty of shady spots with seats to ward off the heat, the rose gardens looked beautiful. It is free to just walk thru, stay a while, take the kids to play and just enjoy3 weeks agoLovely gardens with play area for kids, a beautiful lake, rose garden, and areas for picnics. Located a short walk to Akland St and the beach with parking usually available. Public toilets could be better, but recently, they added an additional toilet block which is welcomed.

This is such a nice place to go for strolling or even for a picnic. It is pretty big so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. I remember walking 13,000 + steps. We went there last May this year so the flowers didn’t bloom much. It is free hence no ticket needed. There are just so many picture perfect views that I took loads of photos. Will definitely go back there hopefully before spring is over. 🙂
I’ve paid money for a worse garden. Very well organized and attended to. Flat paved paths throughout with plenty of spots for picnics or just lounging by the side of the water. Beautiful plants throughout with many labels to satisfy your curiosity. A must see when you are in the area!
Beautiful vast green space in which you can take a stroll through the luscious trees and grass that this garden has to offer. If you get hungry, have a bite at the cafe with a view of the lake. This is a wonderful place for all – children, grown ups, elderly, and a nice place to see different plants and flowers. A visitors Centre with toilets and a cafe.
Amazing botanic garden with wide variety of plants! Great for jogging, walking, picnicking, and simply doing nothing
Sitting next to shrine of remembrance, it’s easy to get to from city center of Melbourne. The botanic garden also connects to two other gardens and the river bank of Yarra River. It’s a strip of green space in an urban area.
I visited during December, but still surprised at how many flowers blooming at that time. You can also find bunch of birds.
I spent two hours there and each corner was different from others. If you really want to check all different sections, it might take you 3 hours.
The staff there is also nice and helpful. They actively offered help when I was checking map. Really feel good about them!
The visitor center also has clean toilets. You can also get beautiful map there.
It’s amazing that there’s such a beautiful garden in Melbourne city. We joined the walking tour with our guide Virginia and Chris. They shared lots of information about the garden and introduced the various plants grown in the garden. We spent more than 2 hours walking around this beautiful place. It’s definitely a wonderful place to enjoy your vacation.
