Jews comprise approximately 13% of New York City's population, making the Jewish community the largest in the world outside of Israel. As of 2016, 1.1 million Jews lived in the five boroughs of New York City, and over 1.75 million Jews lived in New York State overall. In addition, Judaism is the second-largest religion practiced in New York City, with approximately 1.6 million adherents as of 2022, representing the largest religious Jewish community of any city in the world, greater than the combined totals of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Nearly half of the city’s Jews live in Brooklyn. The ethno-religious population makes up 18.4% of the city and its religious demographic makes up 8%. The first recorded Jewish settler was Jacob Barsimson, who arrived in August 1654 on a passport from the Dutch West India Company. Following the assassination of Alexander II of Russia, for which many blamed "the Jews", the 36 years beginning in 1881 experienced the largest wave of Jewish immigration to the United States. In 2012, the largest Jewish denominations were Orthodox, Haredi, and Conservative Judaism. Reform Jewish communities are prevalent through the area. Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan is the largest Reform synagogue in the world. Jews have immigrated to New York City since the first settlement in Dutch New Amsterdam in 1654, most notably at the end of the 19th century to the early 20th century, when the Jewish population rose from about 80,000 in 1880 to 1.5 million in 1920. The large Jewish population has led to a significant impact on the culture of New York City. After many decades of decline in the 20th century, the Jewish population of New York City has seen a sharp increase in the 21st century, owing to the high birth rate of the Hasidic and Orthodox communities.

Very mell maintained parkland with spectacular views over the harbour and surrounding areas. There is a fantastic walking path and many picnic areas as well as numerous beaches throughout the park. You can sit and watch the various boats go by or just look over the water and islands in the distance. The park is easy to get to with lots of parking throughout.

This is a very relaxing space to explore. The area is well maintained and has a, not overly long, system of paths that offer some gorgeous views of the surroundings. There is a small man made beach on hand to give the kids some sand to play in, and there are plenty of BBQs dotted around if you’re in the mood for an alfresco cook up, and if you want someone else to do the cooking there is an excellent cafè on hand to dine at.

  1. Lovely addition to Gladstone.
Park for all ages, nice walking tracks plus lots of areas for children to ran around. Fun water features anyone can cool down walking through them.
We had a lovely lunch at the cafe (Auckland House).
    Recommend a visit.

  2. This is a fun afternoon play when you are short on time to go to the beach. Plenty of toilets a nice spread out plaground with fun water play. There is also plenty of seats in the shade and in the sun, a good place for birthdays

  3. Had last visited Gladstone in 2000 and arrived here in early 2024 to find this excellent waterpark and expansive landscaped waterfront parkland. We couldn’t access the lookout as it was under redevelopment but when finished it too is sure to be magnificent. Several restaurants in the precinct make this a must visit place in Gladstone.

  4. This place is an absolute amazing well designed playground. park, dog walking, space for the community of Gladstone. I wish the Gold Coast did something similar. It was such a lovely experience.
