9 months agoReally lovely hostel. Very friendly welcome and lovely service throughout time we were there. Kitchen was good and had everything you needed. Breakfast was so lovely – freshly made bread and scrolls with fruits, yogurts and cereals. Showers and bathroom were decent. Rooms were nice, needed a much stronger light though. The building is quite old and everything feels a bit dated but that’s just personal preference. Overall lovely stay in a great location – would definitely come back.10 months agoGreat location right in the CBD but with easy street parking nearby. Really friendly service and nice free breakfast with baked goods, cereal and canned fruit. The kitchen is well-stocked and clean. It appears that they’re in the process of updating the rooms and bathrooms — some looked more updated than others. There is a music venue next door, and it can be quite loud when there’s a concert, though none of the shows went too late. Overall, a comfortable stay!10 months agoToad Hill was very laid back & friendly staff & regular guests. The rooms are what you pay for being a hostel but can say I slept well & I was comfortable. Toad Hill upstairs has a community dinning room to accommodate for a number of guests to sit back and relax, read a book or watch tv & a kitchen big enough to host a cook off in. A very modern old house with high ceilings, & facilities. The downstairs department has the comfort of free commercial breakfast attached to your room fee, with free coffee, tea & Milo, biscuits, fresh baked bread & cake. There is also a library of books, a pool table, a ping pong table, a piano, and a television. The owners are very lovely & great with having kids booked in to stay as well with a little court yard & a basketball hoop. Will definitely come again.a year agoRooms are very small and very hot, they don’t allow the windows to open, which makes the room unbearable and not comfortable at all, slightly overpriced too. They do offer breakfast which was a nice addition. The shower pressure is not strong at all which was disappointing. The Cabana live music bar next door is a brilliant idea! Check in and out was easy and the hosts were lovely and accommodating.10 months agoWe have absolutely loved our time staying at Toad Hall it’s one of the most friendly welcoming places I have ever stayed and is like being part of a big family. The free breakfast is absolutely amazing and so yummy. I can’t speak highly enough of our time at Toad Hall and so very well positioned to everything.

Stayed here with a colleague this week for one night. Location is great, staff was friendly, view from the balcony is very tranquil, room was OK despite some visibly dated equipment and bed was reasonably comfy. Unfortunately though, the cleanliness was not good at all. Both our rooms need a proper clean (including things like aircon and TV remotes). If clean, would happily give 4 stars.
My family and I were in a 2 bedroom apartment. It had a lovely view of the harbour and comfortable beds. At over $1200 for 3 nights, (peak time of year) We expected at the very least for the room to be clean – It wasn’t. The floors were in need of a good vacuum and a blanket on the bed had some suspect looking brown stains on it. We went out one day and had left some empty glass bottles on the kitchen counter, which weren’t collected, which we found strange.
The place is also situated right next a Seafood processing plant, and a strong smell will often greet you upon opening a door or window.
The staff at the attached Restaurant were lovely and very attentive. It had an awesome view of the bay, and although the meals were basic, they were were prepared with love. I would give the Restuarant alone 4 stars.
The main reason for the 2 star rating is the cleanliness of the room, and the price. Would not stay here again due to this.
We had a 3rd floor room over looking the harbor with great views. Room was clean. Had a small kitchen with some drinks in the fridge. There’s a restaurant attached to the property and many within a very short walk. Would I stay here again? Absolutely.
My Son was staying here. Really nice rooms. Just be careful with the Parking. Because if ur there for just 10-15mins to drop something off, u will receive a $65 Parking ticket. If this happens nd u were there for Legit reasons then get ahold of them with ur ticket info nd they’ll be happy to help u by getting said ticket dismissed!
Go for lunch often and it’s the first time I encountered a problem. The pizza was way under cooked and the chips where well overcooked. Nice atmosphere and excellent view. The burger was a decent size and it was packed with flavour.
