Great ushering service. The shop could do with expansion considering the very limited intermission time. Otherwise if it wasn’t for the ushers help it would have been chaotic, definitely!

Great venue to watch the 10 Tenors, was a bit uncomfortably warm inside but if they turned the aircon down it would have caused a stir with the majority of seats occupied by elderly folk. Great acoustics, friendly usher and service staff. Parking on the main street difficult, most parking out the rear and walk through the alley.

Love it here watching my daughter perform and for events but also the architecture of this building is beautiful as you would expect for a theatre it ticks all the boxes for me I love it

This is a beautifully appointed theatre, and quite grand for a small city. The acoustics are pretty good, and a wide range of acts and performances is catered for. The ticketing people are helpful and ushers are respectful and supportive. Seating is fully tiered as should be expected. It pays to be mindful when parking before an event as there is no specific theatre parking; you will need to find your own parking within the central city, or organise other travel arrangements, so plan to be a little early.

Truly majestic theatre, felt privilege to visit this historical building, appreciate the work of art and restoration effort put into to make keep the building as it is

  1. EXTREMELY DIRTY.
I had to tighten my laces before walking to my seat so my shoes didn’t stick to the floor. Then I had to pick a different seat becuase mine was so stained and dirty. Rubbish in the cup holders and all over the floor. Room number 1.

  2. Nice cinema. Has delicious snacos and drinks, including alcoholic beverages. The screens are big, not the best quality, but still pretty good. The seats are comfortable but not the best I have ever seat on. People are extremely friendly and helpful. The bathroom was very clean.

  3. Went to see The eras tour film.. The staff were very kind. And the screen picture was pretty good. But the place was filthy. The chairs look like they have never been cleaned, kinda hard, and really cramped together…you don’t have a lot of space to put your food down which was disappointing. But yea that’s my opinion

  4. I recently visited Event Cinemas Palmerston North, and my experience left much to be desired. While the staff were friendly, the overall condition of the cinema was subpar. The seats were torn and shabby, which immediately detracted from the comfort and enjoyment of the movie. Additionally, the unclean floors further highlighted the need for better maintenance.

One of the significant disappointments was the screen size. Compared to other cinemas, the screen here appeared smaller, making it difficult to fully immerse oneself in the movie’s visuals. This was especially disappointing considering the expectations for a quality movie experience.

The odour on the seats was another unpleasant surprise, creating a less than pleasant atmosphere. While I understand that older theaters may have some quirks, the overall experience was well below the standard I expected.

However, I must commend Event Cinemas Palmerston North for its effort in showcasing international movies. It’s a valuable initiative, and I hope they can improve the overall cinema conditions to match the diversity of movies they offer.

In conclusion, while the friendly staff and international movie selection are positive aspects, the condition of the cinema, including torn seats, unclean floors, small screens, and unpleasant odours, significantly detracted from the overall experience. I hope the management can address these issues to make the cinema more enjoyable for all moviegoers.

  5. I haven’t been to the movies in a long time. Now I know why. So disappointed. You advertise $13 tickets but they weren’t. The seats are so gross and grotty. They’re old, dirty and smell musty. So not worth your $. The staff basically ignore you in their own world then when my partner went to buy an alcoholic beverage the duty manager had left and he wasn’t able.
