Visited Museum on lovely Sunday sunny day, was a great expereince seeing the flying history, Armed forces and commercial travel. Being able to see the planes up close and getting to sit in one of them wasa a great treat. Highly recommend. What was even better was the cafe that had decicious food. When I was there there was a few birthday parties going and seemed like such a great idea for a day out for groups.

I’m glad to give it a five-star rating primarily because of volunteer Ken, who was an Australian pilot and worked in Hong Kong in the past. He’s knowledgeable, kind and helpful, answering all your questions. Actually he made my family’s trip to Tauranga memorable.

This museum deserves a whole lot more recognition for the collection it’s building, and for its cafe, as well as for the clear dedication shown by its staff who proved to be full of knowledge of the aircraft types and for the restoration processes both in progress and completed on their collection.

  1. Really cool place to go for a wander (as a first time visitor to Tauranga). Lots of cool little shops and galleries hidden amongst the streets which are littered with piece of art on the walls, the ground and the greenery! You really have to keep both eyes open else you’ll miss something. We didn’t get to go visit all the shops as were were travelling with a toddler who couldn’t sit still, but they all looked very interesting. Definitely worth a visit, and not to mention, everything here is very photogenic!

  2. Great place to visit before 3pm, a cafe over there is lovely, many art galleries & shops are to be seen.
Doggy friendly, children friendly, wheelchair friendly.

  3. Such a cute vintage village! It felt like going back in town. There’s a cafe with honestly the most aesthetic and appetising cabinet food and amazing coffee, a cinema, lots of fashion stores, a tattoo parlour and even pottert studio!
