The territory was transferred to the federal government by New South Wales in 1911, two years prior to the capital city being founded and formally named as Canberra in 1913.
While the overwhelming majority of the population reside in the city of Canberra in the ACT's north-east, the territory also includes some towns such as Williamsdale, Oaks Estate, Uriarra, Tharwa and Hall. The ACT also includes the Namadgi National Park, which comprises the majority of land area of the territory. Despite a common misconception, the Jervis Bay Territory is not part of the ACT, although the laws of the Australian Capital Territory apply as if Jervis Bay did form part of the ACT.     We had the opportunity to hire Govinda Events for 2 of our functions at home in Canberra. We had bad weather on both the events and Gaurav from Govinda Events helped us with marquees, heaters, tables, decoration pretty much the whole set up for the functions. He was quite detailed in his approach and very patient with our never ending changes in the set up. Both the events were hosted in a grand way and we are very pleased with the service provided to us.     Gaurav of Govinda Events has been excellent in his service. We used him for decorations at Vishnu Shiva Mandir for our son’s wedding two years ago and we were very pleased with the service. And again used their services for our daughter’s wedding, including Haldi and Mehandi functions, at our house. This time Govinda Events have expanded their services and suggested Punjabi Junction for catering (food was very tasty and sumptuous) and also included lighting. Everything went well and smoothly. Highly recommend Govinda Events for a variety of events and parties.

This included a sky room (complete with festoon lighting), a beautiful long table, crystal glassware, gold cutlery, linen napkins and floral arrangements. I was looking for an eclectic , country family dinner vibe for a group of 30. My vision was achieved above and beyond my expectations. Jillian was brilliant to work with and really understood my style. She was able to make suggestions and put forward ideas that took the vision to a whole other level. In addition to styling, Show Pony also created and staffed a bar for us. We received excellent, professional service which topped off our event. Thankyou Jillian and your entire team!
