a week agoLocation could not be better. This is close to every attraction. Breakfast was delicious and I highly recommend it. The whole place is well-decorated and our bathroom was immense and even had a bath! The bed was super comfortable and we slept well. For the price we appreciated the place very well. =)Pro: The best location for a hotel in town. Near attractions, shops and restaurants. Near public transport routes. Stylish. The communal areas were delightful and so was the dining room. And our rooms Huge bathroom. Good noise isolation (minus the elevator system that you could occasionally hear). Delicious and filling breakfast. Most comfortable bed we slept in since a long time. Perfectly cleaned. Affordable breakfast, that you include it with your bedroom reservation or not.
Cons: Bedroom space is smaller than at your average hotel. Not a lot of electric outlets in the bedroom due to the age of the hotel. Shower design led us to wet the floor both times we used it. You need to shell $3 to $10/day for parking due to the location. If you take the road parking, you will need to wake up early to start the parking meter (Sundays are free) Public transport in Ballarat is not that great or widespread. Due to their age, some furniture in your rooms may show signs of wear. Some rooms may show signs of old renovations, like holes in the wall skirting. Lift sometimes didn’t work when being called from the second floor.
a month agoRecently stayed here to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. What a lovely place. From the old lift, to the winding staircase, everything is beautifully preserved from a time long ago. Service and facilities are, however, bang up to date, and everything you would expect from a hotel in the heart of the city. Epic breakfast rounded of a very pleasant stay.3 months agoCold shower and spar not operating. We had to ask to be served at dinner. Food was excellent. Breakfast was similar. The order was eventually taken then we waited for an hour for the food. The restaurant was very quiet, not more that 3 tables to wait on. Once again what came out from the kitchen was good.a month agoEnjoyed our stay. Not keen on the frosted glass toilet door, I like my privacy!
Left an unopened six pack in the fridge. It went missing so either housekeeping don’t check the bar fridge, which is a worry for some poor patron down the track or they must have thought we wouldn’t come back for it.
Also the dining room was very cold.
Car park can be a little tricky especially as there is a sign saying reverse in only but when car park has only one space left this was impossible.
Despite the above I think it is a beautiful hotel.
5 months agoWe held a 21st Birthday dinner for my son here on a Friday night. We had a large group and due to the size we were put in the Bentley Room. And what a gorgeous room. We would love to say a huge thanks to the staff for incredible service and the food was so good. Could not have asked for a better experience. We will be returning and recommending Craig’s to everyone we know.

The nachos for a starter were nice but the beef burger was absolutely hideous. Burger was burnt and the bun was extremely soggy. We didn’t get asked how our meals were, we didn’t finish our meals and left dissappointed.
Good option for a family meal if you’re in the area. It is clean and quite modern, has an indoor playground for the kids and reasonable pub menu options.
Service was lacking on the day we were there. It was an early dinner seating on a weekend, not overly busy yet but a couple of the staff seemed uninterested to serve asking us to go from register to register to wait to be seated.
Wait time was a little while, but the food was enjoyable once it arrived. Easy parking outside and would come again to hopefully experience better service.
We dined in with a party of 14 so that may have had something to do with the following.
Unfortunately my steak, veg and chips were cold, maybe Lukewarm at best. My partner and her sister also had the barramundi which they were both underwhelmed at. Fish was cooked well however, it was served on a bed of cold beans and potatoes.
The scallop special was delicious however, with a great portion size and a good price.
I’d give them another go, it was probably to do with the party size more than the kitchen.
Really good food. Dropped in whilst travelling through to Adelaide just to get out of the car and get some good food and quickly so we could get back on the road and this place did not disappoint. Accessible via towing vehicle, great specials and a good price.
What a cracker of a place. Very lively. We’re more into being able to hear each other and to be fair, it was tradie night just before Xmas. A very cool place, so we were happy to go to the restaurant end and have a delicious meal. It was quieter there. Check the carpet in the back entrance, I think it needs a clean. Other than that a very cool place, including a courtyard area, and really nice staff.
