a week agoCalled in last night for fish and chips, they were over cooked, we had to throw our meal in the rubbish bin. What a waste. Very disappointed. Hopefully you will improve for other customers. ?6 months agoGot a tradies pack from here, not really expecting much, and was quite pleasantly surprised . Pack was too much for me to eat 🙂 Perfectly cooked. Polite and Friendly staff. Potato cakes are home made, not production. Fish is sliced a decent thickness so it does not go dry and rubbery when cooked. This shop had staff who where mostly adult and a good mix of both men and women. A very nice change from the other shops who only employ young girls. If you feel like fish and chips, I highly recommend going here, they tick all the boxes. I will definitely be returning.
a month agoGot 3 battered prawns at $2.50 each this is what I got. One not even battered, overcooked and dry. How you can bag these up and still charge $2.50 is an embrassment.5 months agoWaited while 3 people who ordered after me got their food before me then get home & it’s burnt. Would not recommend.5 months agoAbsolutely delicious…good friendly service…plenty of parking ..fresh…generous serving and a reasonable price…this place gets our thumbs up..cheers

I’m really shocked at how bad the fish was! I would go so far as to say it’s the worst fish I have ever had from a fish and chip shop. It was so dry and stale. Like it had been sitting in a bain marie all day. Just inedible and I had to throw it away. The potato cakes were also terrible. But in contrast, the chips were really yummy! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Really great chips. Such a shame about the rest of it. Unfortunately I do not recommend this place for anything other than chips.
Holy moly the chips here are good. I’d have preferred to buy a half size as the minimum serve is enormous and about 2/3 will go to waste. I’m not a small eater, I did my best and barely touched the sides. Crispy outside, hot and fluffy inside and as all good fish and chips should be- wrapped in paper not served on a cardboard tray (not for me). The flake was ok- batter not to thick or greasy but I prefer a thick crumb like you get in North Qld but this was ok. Good portion size, nice enough, but average not spectacular.
I appreciated the staff called regulars by name, old fashioned service in a proper fish and chip shop. Only thing missing was value packs and family deals on the blackboard.
Today I tried Steve’s for the first time and ordered a minimum chips super crispy…AND THEY CERTAINLY WERE THAT!!!
More often than not when you order fish and chips at other shops and ask for extra crispy, they still come out soggy. This was not the case at Steve’s!!
Overall, very pleased with the service, the brand of chicken salt and ultimately how crispy my chips were. Thank you!!!
Will be back in the future to try fish, potato cakes and burger – till then, keep up the good work!

Picture 2 – Chips in a better light – observe the crispy-ness.
First time customer. Chips were crunchy outside and soft inside and flouro yellow, so apart from the weird colour, they were good.
Fish was dry but edible and potato cakes were hard and dry so i didn’t eat them. Flake was a bit pricey.
The fish isn’t the best on earth, but it’s still pretty good, the chips are where it’s at though. Absolutely bloody incredible chips, best I’ve ever had at any shop that sells chips.
