Pros and Cons of Shopping at Coles

When it comes to choosing where to do your grocery shopping, you may be considering the convenience of a supermarket like Coles or opting for a traditional market. Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages, depending on your specific needs and preferences.

Here are some pros and cons of choosing Coles as your shopping destination:

  • Convenience: Coles is a one-stop shop where you can find everything you need in one place. It offers a wide range of products, from fresh produce to household items, making it convenient for shoppers to get all their essentials in a single visit.
  • Price competitiveness: Supermarkets like Coles often run promotions and offer discounted prices, making it more affordable for customers to shop for groceries. Coles also has a loyalty program, providing additional savings and benefits for its customers.
  • Accessibility: Coles stores are present in various locations, including urban and suburban areas, making it easily accessible for most shoppers. They also offer extended operating hours, providing flexibility for customers to shop at their preferred time.
  • Online shopping: Coles provides an online shopping platform, allowing customers to conveniently order their groceries from the comfort of their homes. This can be beneficial for individuals who prefer to avoid crowded spaces or have difficulty physically visiting the store.

On the other hand, traditional markets also have their own set of advantages and disadvantages:

  • Freshness: Traditional markets often pride themselves on offering fresh and locally sourced produce. Shoppers can find a variety of fruits, vegetables, seafood, and meat that are often sourced directly from farmers or fishermen. This can be particularly appealing for individuals who prioritize high-quality and organic products.
  • Social interaction: Traditional markets provide an opportunity for shoppers to interact with local vendors and build personal connections. It allows customers to ask questions, receive recommendations, and learn more about the origin and production practices of the products they are purchasing.
  • Potential for haggling: In traditional markets, there is often room for negotiation and haggling over prices. Shoppers can try to get a better deal by leveraging their bargaining skills, potentially leading to additional savings.
  • Cultural experience: Traditional markets offer a unique cultural experience, with vibrant displays of local products and flavors. They can provide a sense of authenticity and a glimpse into the local traditions and customs of the community.
  • Availability: Traditional markets may have limitations in terms of product availability, especially when it comes to specialty or international items. They may also have limited operating hours and be located in more specific areas, requiring additional time and effort to access for some customers.

Not a big store but has everything that a supermarket should have. Neat and tidy as well as clean. Good range of items on offer. Good service.

This store is pretty good but there was no one to help when needed.
But all super markets are getting rid of the staff for profits

The fruit and vegetables here consistently look like they’re well past their prime and are often flavourless and dull. I wonder if this store is a dumping ground for substandard produce as it’s consistory inexplicably bad. There are no service departments eg deli, bakery or butcher so everything in prepacked with a vile environmental impact. There are only 2 manned checkouts otherwise there are heaps of self serve checkouts. The staff are often really rude, badly presented and the service is pretty poor. It kinda makes me sad, I worked both deli and checkouts in this store before it was reduced to a glorified convenience store and I remember those days fondly. It’s just miserable now

  1. This is the worst place in existence. The thought of having to attempt to drive my vehicle into that god forsaken car park makes me want to pass out from an aneurysm. Then, I’ll be bent over and robbed of a significant portion of my already thinly stretched salary, and on top of that, they expect me to pay 15c for a bag to put all of my overpriced groceries in. The worst part about this place is that they have the hide to put “new low price” and “prices dropped” tags on the shelves – no, Coles, stop lying to me, at least be honest to me and have tags like “prices have never been higher!” while you pile drive me from behind and rob me of every hard earned cent remaining in my bank account.

  2. Went to this store yesterday to discover that the 12 items or less checkout had been removed and replaced with more self serve checkout. Only a small number of normal checkouts available now in this store. These large companies need to realise that not all customers are willing to use this modern non personal system.

  3. Coles used to be great but of late when using the self serve check out they are treating everyone as a thief, if they can’t trust people they should remove the self serve checkouts, I now refuse to use them

  4. Parking lot is well planned & wasn’t getting congested – no trouble getting in or out and this was at lunch time Monday. They only had 2 bottles of the Vitasoy soy milk I went in for, so I had to get the Long Life version too. Very helpful friendly staff member at self checkout.
