Coming from the city and having to be gluten free and dairy free, if you are looking for more flavours than just sorbets for ice cream, this place is for you! Was pleasantly surprised with all the dairy free options they had. We asked what milks they use instead and they said either soy or oat milk. They also have gluten free cones available. They have dairy options too, so it’s a definite try for a hot day or if you just feel like having an ice cream. They have some space to sit around and talk inside and outside the shop but not a lot. That said they sell lollies and other bits as well.

This place is fantastic. I have a daughter that cannot eat Dairy and this place offers so many great tasting dairy free ice cream flavors. The service is great the girls that served us were fast, the only downfall is how small this place is because it gets really busy, you cannot move anywhere to look around, very minimal seating. Highly suggest checking it out

Ah, The Bean & Cone in Bunbury. A place where dreams are churned, and frozen fantasies become a reality. This is not your ordinary ice-cream shop, my friends. No, no. This is a whimsical wonderland where every lick and every bite takes you on a journey through a symphony of flavors and textures.

As I step into the vibrant and quirky space, I can’t help but be captivated by the playful decor. The walls are adorned with colorful murals depicting swirling ice cream cones and dancing spoons. The air is filled with the sweet scent of freshly made waffle cones, their warm, sugary aroma enveloping the room like a comforting hug.

I make my way to the counter, my eyes wide with anticipation. Behind the glass display, a tantalizing array of frozen delights awaits. Each scoop is a work of art, meticulously crafted and bursting with creativity. From classic favorites to daring combinations, The Bean & Cone has it all.

I decide to start my ice cream extravaganza with a scoop of their signature flavor, the Bunbury Bliss. This delightful creation blends locally sourced honeycomb, swirled through creamy vanilla bean ice cream, and crowned with a sprinkling of crushed macadamia nuts. It’s a harmonious symphony of sweetness and crunch that instantly transports me to the pristine beaches of Western Australia.

Next, I venture into uncharted territory with the Mango Tango sorbet. This vibrant, tropical delight is a burst of sunshine in a cone. The tangy sweetness of ripe mango dances on my taste buds, refreshing and invigorating. It’s like a mini vacation to an exotic island, where the sun kisses your skin and the breeze whispers stories of faraway lands.

Feeling adventurous, I take a leap into the unknown with their experimental flavor of the month, aptly named “The Wild One.” It’s a concoction that defies convention, combining unexpected ingredients like lavender, chili flakes, and dark chocolate. The first bite is a revelation. The floral notes of lavender intermingle with a gentle kick of heat, all enveloped in the velvety embrace of rich, bittersweet chocolate. It’s a flavor rollercoaster that leaves me breathless and craving more.

As I indulge in these frozen delights, I can’t help but reflect on the cultural significance of ice cream. It’s a universal language of joy, a treat that transcends borders and brings people together. Whether it’s a scorching summer day or a cozy winter evening, ice cream has the power to ignite smiles and create shared memories.

In The Bean & Cone, I’ve discovered not just a place to satisfy my sweet tooth, but a haven of imagination and creativity. It’s a testament to the human spirit’s ability to turn something as simple as frozen dairy into a canvas for innovation and expression.

So, my friends, if you find yourself in Bunbury, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to The Bean & Cone. Let your taste buds embark on a fantastical adventure, where every lick is a moment of bliss and every flavor is a story waiting to be savored. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

On 7th Jan 2024, we visited, and ice cream was nice and tasty, and the spread was huge. However, the person serving ice cream needs training in preparation for ice cream in cones. Over topped up cones may drop off. Management should look into improving the staff training.

  1. Really lovey Vietnamese dishes.

The Bun Bo Hue was tasty and I love the unique noodle they use. I haven’t seen this done anywhere else!

Pho was delicious and tasty. The laksa was lovely to eat. Tried some of the pastries too and they were great.

The iced coffee tasted authentic. I asked for no condensed milk and it was strong and lovely!

The only thing they could improve is the service being a bit cold. But apart from that they are accommodating and offer lovely dishes and drinks.

For the price it really is worth the value.

  2. Stumbled across this local gem as we were driving through Bunbury to Perth. It was a chilly fourteen degree morning and the piping hot bowl of Pho served up with aromatic fresh herbs was just the thing to hit the spot. Accompanied with a decadent piece of honeyed cream cake aptly named the Bee Sting and a hot glass of Vietnamese drip coffee and we were in heaven. What a lovely experience, with the friendly and hospitable proprietors adding to the great vibes!

  3. Pho Bo only, no chicken pho (Pho Ga) The noodles are not traditional style, they are firm, not silky, but the stock was good. The rice paper rolls were delicious & fresh, however, my black coffee order was a surprise, it arrived cold, with ice. No thanks.

  4. Dumpling soup … the dumplings were hard and stiff. Tasteless.

Rice paper rolls … no comment. Not made with love.

Steamed dumplings… also hard and not the greatest.

    Big breakfast. Good.

Vietnamese coffees hot and cold. Both made with condensed milk. ?

    The people were beautiful though.

  5. Ordered some prawn rice paper rolls, which were ready quickly and you could tell they were made fresh!! Absolutely delicious! Perfect for a quick bite or even to meet up with friends or family for a catch up and have lunch.
