Good pies, including some interesting vegetarian pies. Some nice deserts also. The store is clean and tidy.

Tried Chicken Parma and Butter Chicken Pie. One of the best pie I ever had ? Must try if you are around! Served fresh and hot. Also, serves drinks and dessert! Outdoor seating available.

PS: The filling is fulfilling ?

Shocking service to the point of arrogant service. For the high cost of these pies I actually expect courtesy and information on what pie is what that I bought. I purchased several pies but she simply stated you will know what’s what once you eat them! Pathetic.

As for the pies, yeah average to be polite and Luke warm which was disappointing. This is me place to avoid

Definitely try this place out! These pies are creative, amazing and very ,very tasty! Plus, they are hot and ready to eat with excellent pastry. This has to be a Tradie “smoko” favourite. ? Also customer service was excellent, I was happily greeted, served and out within 3 minutes. Excellent Pies, truly well done. So lets break it down

As it was my first time, it was hard to choose as the range is so large it is almost overwhelming. ? So I ordered the Original (traditional) gravy mince beef pie and the chicken parma pie. (Refer to Photos)

Price: Pies start from $5.50 and go up from there. Very reasonable for the food.

Food: You have to give credit to amazing well-cooked pastry – sometimes that light crackle of thin flaked pastry really tops off every good pie. The Original Beef Mince pie: no more or less the traditional meat pie – the beef and gravy were great as it didn’t taste like they added a lot of salt or sugar to pick up the flavour – it was naturally savoury within it’s own right which was excellent. The Chicken Parma: Was blown away! So Good! They don’t skip on ingredients, the chicken pieces alone are worth it! But there is every flavour you would expect from traditional pub parma but in this pie. Highly recommend you take the challenge and tell me I’m wrong.

Range: There would have to be 30 types, I didn’t really count as I was in and out so quickly!

Customer Service: Service with a smile is always appreciated, thank you for that! Apart from the service person having to deal with my gobsmacked shock at the variety I was presented with; they had a secondary board to show you what was available – which was very helpful. Had my pies and paid within a few minutes. Outstanding.

Would highly recommend this shop to everyone – I will be back – if only to try that beef stroganoff pie, which was sadly unavailable at the time.

  1. Good pies, good toasties cheese melted perfectly could use some salt pepper and butter. Staff are friendly although a little too keen. Were off getting my order whilst I was still ordering. Although toastie is good I don’t think it’s worth $8.50, pies are around 5 bucks good 420 for a sausage roll is too high. Especially since they charge extra for sauce

  2. Delectamenti ! Delectamenti ! Delectamenti !

Wide variety of pies, pastries, freshly baked breads, creamy cakes, crunchy chocolate cookies, killer coffee to die for, fluffy sandwiches, eggy quiche, tender wraps , fresh garden plucked salads.

Unique: The Strata Lamb Toastie is best ! Gluten Free Cakes are next in my scope.

Excellent service by cashier to recommend customer to go for the chicken corn pie when the chicken vegetables pies are unfortunately out of stock. The cashier deserves to be promoted with salary increase and give more shift hours.

Guaranteed quickie service by the immaculately presented, neat, smiling waitresses with the Genius pairing of Creamy Latte with Surprise Free Biscuit for a Happy Finish. My coffee came in a flash.

Atmosphere: Wooden country theme decorated with giant TV & Clean. Temperature is Climate Controlled. Lots of occupied seating space.

Crowd: Locals and Tourists. Chinese & Caucasians.

Place is packed full of people eating thus the food must be good. The food turnover rate is high thus the food must be fresh.

If you don’t like queuing, why not order takeaway and enjoy in the comfort of your home to binge watch movies?

    I give it 5 / 5 stars.

I will return to try different items especially the gluten free cake & tea as they all look tasty.

I highly recommend you to schedule into your reminder to bring your family, colleagues and friends there this week for a pleasant gastronomic experience.

    🙂

    Delectamenti ! Delectamenti ! Delectamenti !

I got it off Google translate ?

Disclaimer: I don’t own any shares in the cafe or get paid for writing this review. Then again, you just have to trust my words as you can’t read my thoughts.

I really did visit this cafe as I have the photos paired with this review (though one could download photos from Google Images).

On the other hand, I would give less credibility to text only reviews (may not even have visited the place) which may serve as an outlet for pent up frustration for a tiny minority of other people. I used to do that in the past as I was impetuous.

Many things in life are only opinions – not facts.

You have to visit the place to determine if the review is accurate.

  3. Located close to Pakenham train station and on the main street, Australian bakehouse cafe is on the intersection of main street and drake place.

I have been regular visitor at this cafe and it is always nice to enjoy my in coffee and breakfast as the vibes are quite positive. Today I had a Coffee latte, Veggie Toastie and Veggie Pastie. Photos attached. on top the food, weather had been very supportive. Hence, we ate our breakfast in outdoor area.

They do have an indoor setting and outdoor setting. Also, I was tempted to have a pastrie which looked really nice. Although, avoiding sugar so I did not try it.

I would personally recommend anyone who is willing to spend their morning with their loves ones with a wonderful breakfast.

  4. I can’t make a proper review without trying a bakery multiple times, I have to check and try out the Hot options.
We went in and had some very delicious looking pastries, cakes and it was hard to choose.
We did get a nice range of baked goods for us and the kids, we did find quite a few that we absolutely loved. We did have a couple items we were not as pleased with, but that’s only because we have had some exceptional products elsewhere.
Head in and try them out

  5. Massively underwhelming customer service considering the reviews. However great coffee, food and atmosphere. So, let’s break it down…

    Atmosphere: *****
Great Space! The interior design, layout (both inside and out) – excellent interior, exposed brick work with wood flooring to accentuate that excellent natural feel of cookery and homely cooking is well achieved. Externally, great use of space, colours and décor – On a vibrant day, sitting outside, is a must. Extremely well done.

    Customer Service: **
Could have been an off day but felt rude and little chore’ish, and they weren’t busy. It wasn’t the lack of efficiency (order was taken, was provided as requested). It was the lack of personality, welcome and pride in work.
Wasn’t greeted well, and from the homely vibe of the store, the tone didn’t match at all.
My order felt like an annoyance, like I was interrupting someone’s break and needed to hurry up. Even after the order was taken and I went outside, the additional customer service person who delivered the coffee was not personable, even when I said “thank you” – literally said nothing – not even a “You’re welcome”
Lastly, I was now curious to see if I could get any appreciation from any staff member. I ensured my table was clean, collected all my dishes and rubbish neatly, walked into the store, handed them to the customer service representative and said “Thank you, it was delicious.” Genuinely appreciative of the food (as below)! And was provided with a nonchalant and dismissive “sure”.
    Very Disappointed!

Food (Why we are here): *****
Order: Bacon, Egg & Cheese Muffin, Skinny flat white and a bottle of water
Coffee: Excellent Barista – The coffee wasn’t burnt, the temperature was excellent and the flavour was outstanding
Muffin: I don’t know about you but I love a soft yolk egg in a Bacon, Egg & Cheese muffin. The egg was definitely Free Range based on the taste & deep yellow colour, the bacon was absolutely amazing and the soft melted cheese was just the icing on the proverbial cake.

    Overall: ***
The food and atmosphere were amazing! I would have given this 5 stars but was let down so much by the non-caring customer service that was received at the time that I had to drop this rating significantly. I certainly would recommend a breaky treat if you are interested, I just hope that your customer service experience was better than mine. Thank you, The Great Australian Bakehouse! I may return to update.
