a month agoI asked them to diagnose an electrical issue with my second battery system.Basically the battery charger installed in the engine bay to charge the second battery had started beeping and when it beeped, I would have to disconnect it from the battery to stop it. It would also mean that the second battery wouldn’t charge from the first one and that I couldn’t use any of the accessories connected to the second battery. It would beep when I went out of town on a long drive and it would beep just driving around town. I wondered if it was an issue with the wiring or with the battery charger.
I was told that there was nothing wrong with the battery charger and that the second battery was flat and that was the issue. I was told that I should replace the second battery (a deep cycle marine battery) and it would cost $300.
I decided not to proceed with changing the battery because when I’d had a look at it, it was showing a charge of 14 volts when running and 12.8 when the ignition was off.
For the trouble of taking a look I was charged $80. I don’t have any issue with this – time and knowledge are valuable and I respect that.
I’ve since replaced the battery charger with a top of the line one and it no longer malfunctions. The batteries charge while the car is running. The deep cycle battery continues to show a healthy charge. I can run my accessories again.
I appreciate the time Alice Mechanical Solutions took out of their busy schedule to look at my issue.
2 months agoI would highly recommend this business, Ben and his very friendly team got me sorted, I went in with what I thought was a small issue and it turned out that I had no back brakes. So they got new ones and made sure I was safe to keep travelling. Expert knowledge and very reasonable priced. Thank you. 10 stars.5 months agoI recommend this business. We had some issues with our caravan that needed addressing. They were a bit out of the ordinary but they fixed them for us on a timely basis so we could make our destination tonight. Charges were very fair. Many thanks to the team for helping us out and keeping us on the road.a month agoTraveller, booked in for service on way through. Fair price for service. They spotted water pump leaking. Recommended buying a kit and doing the timing belt with the water pump which was a good recommendation.Adjusted the jobs they had as they knew we were stuck and having to pay money for accommodation every night. Considering everything they had going on, they got us done in a very timely matter.
Charged $1508 for the water pump and timing belt and hydronic tensioner, coolant and WC after saying they usually come in at $1200. I was happy to pay at the difference as I had confidence in the work they had done. And knew it was an effort for them to fit me in and Toyota van so working on the motor under the front seat might have been a bit annoying.
Couple of days after I had all this done my aircon stopped working. When I eventually got it to an auto electrician, he said the person who worked on it last had not put the harness back in place properly and it ended up rubbing on the pulley on the front of the engine resulting in the wires wearing through and breaking. Ended up having to pay another $462 to have that repaired.
Phoned Ben to just give polite feedback who accepted the call really well however was no offer of compensation.
Overall left feeling a little disappointed but at the same time really appreciate them fitting me in when they were very busy!
4 months agoHad a problem with vehicle, called around 4:30pm and they looked at and fixed the issue the next day, which was great as we were travelling to Kings Canyon, then Yulara and then home the day after. Ben was very helpful and knows his stuff. I would highly recommend this business.

Stayed only a few days in Alice. Booked service a couple of weeks prior. Dropped car off at 8am had a text that it was finished at 9.40am. Everything went very smoothly and staff were lovely. Would highly recommend.
I had a coolant tank problem and went to the wrong mechanic in Alice Springs. I didn’t know what to do, but my friend suggested going to My Car Tyre. They’re really friendly and great at fixing cars. Shan, the mechanic there, did an amazing job fixing my car.

The guys in mycar were super friendly and helpful – I went there because I thought that I needed to replace some hoses and check the universal (maybe replacing it) and they were extremely honest and gave me a good appraisal of the situation and sound advice on how I should proceed based on my circumstances. I was very impressed that they didn’t insist on doing work on the van because of the costs involved, instead suggesting I go to a major urban centre. They really inspire trust and I would recommend them for whatever issue you may have in Alice Springs.
If I could rate lower I would! I have used this company for oil changes two times, and both times was a terrible experience. I called a couple days ahead of time to ask what times were available for an oil change. They tell me to come in when they open at 0800am. Both times they had my car from open till almost closing time when the oil change is only suppose to be 30-45 minutes. They tell you they will call you when the car is finished but they don’t. I had to repeatedly call them to check the status. I’m not sure what it is they do all day, but if you have things to do or places to go then you are better off doing the oil change yourself than going to this place.
My car is the best place to go, great customer service. They will provide you with what you need at your time of need
