  1. Departure from the setup in Coles shops I am used to but easy enough to get around. Plenty of stock considering the location and times we are in. Staff were very friendly at the checkout and wernt afraid to interact with the customers which is nice in the age of self serve/self customer care supermarkets we have these days.

  2. Kalgoorlie Coles, smells and lessons not learnt.
Coles Kalgoorlie built this new large building with greater space for each car and some great street art.
The management of Coles had a great opportunity to learn from their previous Coles building and be fully supportive and inclusive of the community and the environment. A casual glance and many agree.
However, Coles perhaps because it is controlled from interstate failed in many ways.
    1. Not considering a bus stop allowing ease of access for the elderly and those with other physical/visual challenges.
    2. Being located in such a sunny region not installing solar panels for car shelters to ease the burden on a town power grid that often fails. (Eg Woolworths at Northam)
    3. Not installing a back up power supply ( generator/batteries) for when the township has its next power failure common to the Goldfields.
    4. And that mystery entrance smell/stench many reviewers complain about!!
Not considering the negative impact on customers of the now permanent foul smell/stench in the drainage under the front entrance of Coles as a result of spoiled stock from the initial 3 day power failure in Kalgoorlie soon after the store had opened. (One reviewer believed it to be a broken drainage pipe when first built!!This may explain why the smell remains)
    5. Not considering how the waste of perishable stock and the ongoing impact it has on the peoples in this remote township and surrounding very remote communities ( eg.bush orders) until stocks are slowly replenished.
Yes insurance will cover stock spoilt from power failures but long term it would be better invested in a backup power source.
Customers might then gain some level of confidence in Coles delivering a better service to the community and the environment.

  3. The tallish dark haired female attendant at self serve checkout 7-30 am Monday 19 June 2023 was very abrasive , even nasty.
Coles does not train / filter out the dragons on their staff . It’s just open slather and the brunt is carried by the customer.
Lousy poor consumer service just rears its head too often at Coles Kalgoorlie.
Plus their stock rotation system is dysfunctional whereby any product at the front of the shelves is 99% chance it’s rotten.
The use by dates are not correct and as a result spoilt food sits everywhere on the shelves .
Overall Coles Kalgoorlie is way behind the eight ball .Training needs a major overhaul and upgrade .
They are apparently feeding a booming mining community and all they are doing at present is giving people sore guts and pains in the butt.

  4. Great store
I come from a town that needs a good shake up
This coles store has a great variety of products
The deli was extremely clean for end of day and no one was packing produce away
    Staff great professional and friendly
Don’t go to Woolworths and be disappointed
    Shop COLES Kalgoorlie
