How to Shop Like a Local at Aldi in Mount Gambier

Shopping at Aldi in Australia can be a great way to save money on groceries and household items. However, it may be a bit different from shopping at other supermarkets. Here are some tips and tricks to make your Aldi shopping experience a success:

  • Bring a quarter: In Australia, as in other countries where Aldi operates, you will need a quarter coin or a 2-dollar coin to unlock a shopping cart. Don’t worry though, you’ll get your coin back when you return the cart.
  • Bring your own bags: Aldi does not provide free bags; you can either bring your own reusable bags or purchase them at the store. It’s a good idea to keep some bags in your car or carry a foldable one in your bag in case you make an impromptu visit to Aldi.
  • Use the middle aisle wisely: Aldi is known for its middle aisle, which offers a rotating selection of special buys. Take some time to browse through this aisle as you might find great deals on anything from clothing to kitchen gadgets.
  • Check the labels: Aldi offers a variety of products, including many of its own private labels. Be sure to check the labels and compare with other brands if necessary. You may find that Aldi’s private label products are just as good, if not better, than other well-known brands.
  • Plan your trip: Aldi stores in Australia often have limited opening hours, so it’s a good idea to plan your trip in advance. Check the opening hours of your local Aldi and try to go at a less busy time to avoid long queues.
  • Have a shopping list: It’s easy to get carried away when shopping at Aldi due to the low prices and tempting products. To avoid unnecessary purchases, make a shopping list beforehand and stick to it as much as possible.

  1. My first time at ALDI, Nicely kept store, A lot of things not sold anywhere ele’s. Staff are nice. No big deal about having to pack your own groceries, checkout is faster that way. Will be back.

  2. I am loving the frozen fish selection especially the frozen salmon ..very nice portions and the flavour is fantastic …nearly forgot the frozen chips come up like a treat in the airfryer ..and yes you can cook both the baramundi and the salmon in the airfryer ..an exceptional tasting meal…now we have been cooking and eating the the new zealand koki skin on..could not believe how soft and fresh an absolute must buy and try …..well u will be surprised i found a tiramisu kit …cant wait too try it ..good price was 9nly $2.00 ..love the way Aldi always brings something new in ..never boring or same old same old

  3. Appauling treatment of staff at the checkout! Kindness is free but a bad attitude is incurable. To publicly shout at customer’s because a person allowed an elderly couple go ahead as they loaded up at the checkout is un-excusable! It’s not like she had already started scanning the other persons items through the checkout. I’m truly disgusted at what I witnessed by the middle aged checkout woman today. Go get your ego trip elsewhere but to humiliate and make customers afraid is beyond the point of wrong! I truly cannot understand how she still has a job and to whom the manager is here, you need to do a better job when screening for employees. Truly, there is no excuse for any customers to be treated in such away for only being polite to one another and then have a staff member treat them so poorly for no reason! Being passive aggressive and shouting at customer’s is not a good way to get customers in the door. Things are hard enough now and no one is doing it easy and no one deserves to be treated like these poor customer’s we’re earlier today. I’ve truly never witnessed such disgraceful behaviour of any checkout person. NO THIS IS NOT OKAY treatment of customer’s by that Aldi staffer!
