How to Shop Like a Local at Aldi in Sunbury

Shopping at Aldi in Australia can be a great way to save money on groceries and household items. However, it may be a bit different from shopping at other supermarkets. Here are some tips and tricks to make your Aldi shopping experience a success:

  • Bring a quarter: In Australia, as in other countries where Aldi operates, you will need a quarter coin or a 2-dollar coin to unlock a shopping cart. Don’t worry though, you’ll get your coin back when you return the cart.
  • Bring your own bags: Aldi does not provide free bags; you can either bring your own reusable bags or purchase them at the store. It’s a good idea to keep some bags in your car or carry a foldable one in your bag in case you make an impromptu visit to Aldi.
  • Use the middle aisle wisely: Aldi is known for its middle aisle, which offers a rotating selection of special buys. Take some time to browse through this aisle as you might find great deals on anything from clothing to kitchen gadgets.
  • Check the labels: Aldi offers a variety of products, including many of its own private labels. Be sure to check the labels and compare with other brands if necessary. You may find that Aldi’s private label products are just as good, if not better, than other well-known brands.
  • Plan your trip: Aldi stores in Australia often have limited opening hours, so it’s a good idea to plan your trip in advance. Check the opening hours of your local Aldi and try to go at a less busy time to avoid long queues.
  • Have a shopping list: It’s easy to get carried away when shopping at Aldi due to the low prices and tempting products. To avoid unnecessary purchases, make a shopping list beforehand and stick to it as much as possible.

  1. The good thing for shopping at Aldi is due to their cheaper price but don’t expect too much for the service. If you’re lucky, you might can be served by a nice lady at the checkout who will greet and smile at you, but if you accidentally served by the rude or impolite person, they might just say ‘hello’ just for formality and then throw the catalogue to you. Be nice to those who nice, be fair to those who didn’t nice. That’s the point ☝️

  2. Great range, well stocked and great prices. Good parking and accessibilty. I’ve shopped at many Aldi stores over the years and the staff here are the friendliest I’ve encountered. I was beginning to think friendliness must be against company policy 🙂

  3. Great prices for people with little short of money, they have a large range of items and they also have different things that they sell at a good price which change week to week grab a catalog to see what they have on sale every Wednesday they have different things each week get there early because there will be a line. I brought a wet and dry vacuum for there only $50 dollars!! You cant beat that!

  4. It’s ok. It’s a supermarket. Got most of the stuff i wanted. Shelving staff can be rude, but cashiers lovely. Random staff wandering around helpful, but avoid those packing the fruit and veg like the plague.
Speaking of plagues, i NEVER have luck in finding trolley wipes at this particular Aldi.
    I did score a trolley that i didn’t need a coin or token for…bonus!

  5. Today we went to Aldi in Sunbury and did some shopping. We were happy with the items we purchased and the pricing was also good.

The issue we have is the PAPER BAGS they supply! The strength of the bags is atrocious!

Note: We usually have our own bags but this shop was a spur of the moment thing..

After we paid for our shopping and our PAPER BAGS we headed back to our car, but we only made it as far as Aldi’s front door when the first of our bags self-destructed and half of our shopping was scattered across the floor.
After picking our scattered shopping up we continued to our car but the second bag didn’t quite make it either, spilling the other half of our shopping on the ground behind our car.

Note to ALDI, if you are going to supply PAPER BAGS and CHARGE your CUSTOMERS for the privilege of using them, PLEASE supply a reasonable product.
