Slow on checkouts and the salad mix was well in date, yet got it home and smelt it and it was off (as was the salad mix from other Aldi stores also, this has occured numerous times now), their milk also goes off before the expiry date (quite a few times now), what is the point of trying to save money on shopping when it’s wasted on cheap products you cannot consume … Pointless, c’mon Aldi up your supply chain a d bring “fresh” products to your shelves!

Prices here seem cheaper for meat products. It’s small outlet but I enjoy the selection of other household products along aisles

A generally dark and dingy store with no huge appeal. Always pretty empty whenever I’ve been, which is positive. Typically only 1 type of each item, not many named brands, and I’ve yet to get an Aldi brand product that actually tastes better (or as good) as a named brand – it’s really true that you get what you pay for, and even the cheapness of Aldi isn’t much of a saving these days, it’s not as cheap as it used to be.

Staff (checkout operator) was helpful, I was looking for particular items, after checking current week she apologized couldn’t find it, while I went to gather other items, and she had looked at other catalogues, she discovered not on sale till following week, even though she was busy serving, still took time to assist me.
    Shop clean and tidy,

Great location with large parking area. This Aldi store on the Union St is quite large and always well stocked. It is bright and clean with great layout. The staff are friendly. Very good shopping experience each time shopping here! However the deep trolley can be inconvenient sometimes. Hope a shallow trolley or a shopping basket will be available soon.

I have been shopping in the Newcastle West store for a number of years. Recently I have felt unsafe and pressured at the exit/entrance to give money to people who are playing music at times with loud amplifiers, with caps out for money. Additionally when trolleys are full in the area trying to put my trolley back there’s little room to monouver around them. I feel due to the small space left I could fall and hurt myself, which I feel is an OHS issue as on Aldi property, I did bring this up with the staff on check out who said they would escalate to the manager. I spoke to one person blocking the trolley area asking them to move away and I was abused saying there is always one in every crowd. Such a shame for Aldi as Woolworths and Coles which are near have moved these people on, with their security people, to your property

Unfortunately I encountered staff stupidity here this afternoon. I walked up to the check out with 8 items & started to put them on the conveyor when the guy operating the adjacent checkout said the one I was on was closing. I removed my items went into his que then he said where I came from was reopening straight away. I was now stuck behind a shopper with a large amount of items.
What really annoyed me was this checkout guy laughed as he said the original checkout was reopening. No apology from him just stupidity.
I’m really disappointed in this behaviour from that particular staff member.
I did get served by him & he had plenty of time to apologise for his behaviour.

I’ve been living in Cooks Hill for 10 yrs now, and have always shopped at local ALDI, as I’m a loyal brand customer and I love their product range. My experience with this store has always been pleasant until recently.

About a month ago, they hired a new guy, and today has been the second time in a row that this same person asked me to show him my bag for inspection, at the cash register.
I have never experienced anything like this in another store nor witnessed any other customer at this store being searched and treated in this manner, and I shop there 1-2 times a week. When I did offer my (tiny little) bag for inspection, the guy didn’t even bother to look inside its compartments which truly annoyed me so I insisted he takes a good look inside.
I was left feeling singled out, humiliated, and wondering what was in the way I looked that made him suspect me of being a potential thief. I hope this review finds its way to the store manager and make him/her reconsider this policy of random searches ( if such a store policy exists), but I will certainly not be returning to this store and spending my money, only to be made to feel this way.

  1. Recently renovated, bigger fresh food and freezer sections. Still has the random centre aisle full of various things and specials.

Bicycle rack out front, I usually cycle here to pick up a few things.

  2. They have the medium priced household goods. I usually buy from coles and Woolworths. I have been there twice with my friend. last time, when i went then with my friend. I bought some goods whereas my friend was just accompanying me. They made him open his bag Infront of all other customers. There was nothing. It is more humiliating to people when they call to check bags. They could install high quality security system and cctv than checking like that.
My friend told me he won’t visit this aldi store again. This is how they treat their customers. This also made me think twice before visiting these aldi stores.

  3. I said the blonde check out woman on my way through that Aldi should open another check out lane. She melted down saying I shouldn’t blame her. I said it wasn’t blaming her, I was saying Aldi should open another check out lane. She exclaimed again “It’s not my fault, you can go somewhere else!”. About this time another employee walked past and chimed in “Don’t have a go at her”. I said to to him that it’s not about any staff personally, it’s about Aldi management failing to open another lane. I said I’m just asking that management open another lane. Suddenly another customer yelled at me that I should get a “punch in the head”. I ignored him and said the the blonde employee that it was just about management failing to open another lane when it’s busy. As I packed my bag, the other customer was yelling profanities at me, yet no staff member said anything against him. That customer followed me out into the car park threatening to bash me. His actions were encouraged by the staff at this Aldi store. All I asked was that they open another lane and ended up having staff encouraging threats against me by another customer. I shall never be back, nor will any friends of mine. The worst store, do not go here. If I could give it less than one star on this review I would.
