6 years agoAfter twenty years with Summerland I’m moving on. Behind the garish new colour scheme is a CU that cares a lot less about their customers than they once did. Staff can be rude and unhelpful, and unlike bigger banks Summerland really struggles to understand small business. Rates are not competitive with larger institutions, and where as a Bank will take a good look at your history with them, the CU won’t bother taking a couple of decades into consideration. If you live in the Northern Rivers, you can do a lot better.5 years agoThe rates, while not the most competitive, are firmly within the top 5 provided in the Northern Rivers . Staff are knowledgeable, patient, caring and genuinely helpful. Services are provided in a professional and efficient manner. I have used the Commonwealth Bank all my life.
Recently the bank staff, on seeing my account, insisted I change to a Pensioner Security Account, I was strongly recommended to do so by the financial adviser who said I would be better off for the account change.
As it turns out this meant my account became limited to a mere 15 transactions and month for free and this reduced to 5 transactions a month after 3 months unless I request another 15 free transaction extension. So now it costs me more to bank with the CBS and use Netbank.
I talked to General Inquiries who told me nothing extra could be done.
I am very disappointed with this bank, with whom I have had a mortgage, financial investments and a lifelong savings account. I am annoyed and will change banks.
BUYER BEWARE!
I am disappointed to find out that Commonwealth Bank is the biggest investor of fossil fuels in 2016. I have been a customer for the past 7 years having a mortgage and savings account. I am now moving my accounts to Summerland Credit Union who do not invest in fossil fuels at all. We all need to come together in saving our Great Barrier Reef and to have a liveable planet for all of us. Since governments and corporations seem to want to go on with the business as usual, it’s up to us to invest in companies with the right environmental and social ethics. Customer support was pretty good but I feel I have to stop having my personal finances attached to investments in dirty energy when alternatives are clean renewables available that should be invested in.
As a customer I am not used to be treated like a supplicant. Staff friendly service abysmal. 2 tellers long queue. 4 staff hanging around. Trying to bank an international bank cheque took 3 different staff and 20 minutes to succeed on top of the 20 minutes queuing. I thought we were in the age of globalism not the ice age.
It’s not the staff but the system which is at fault.
The worst of big 4 banking. They make it so difficult to just close accounts and leave so you never have to deal with them again.
Ridiculous can’t deposit money into bank because the shopping centre isn’t open till 9am… and the lied to us about homeloan redraw
