Christies Beach is a seaside suburb in the southern Adelaide metropolitan area, within the City of Onkaparinga. The area is scenic and hence popular with photographers as Witton Bluff provides a natural vantage point over the entire suburb and beyond.
Christies Beach boasts a unique commercial strip running the entire length of Beach Road and is identified as a primary coastal node in the Adelaide Metropolitan area (Planning SA, 2007). Christies Beach also features one of the few remaining main road classified Esplanades in Metropolitan Adelaide, providing direct access to the beach on Gulf St Vincent.
Christies Beach has its own postcode of 5165, and is adjacent to the suburbs of Christie Downs and Noarlunga Centre to the east, Port Noarlunga to the south, and O'Sullivan Beach to the north.
Offshore from Christies Beach is Horseshoe Reef, which is exposed at low tide. A new artificial subtidal reef was constructed approximately 500 metres offshore from the mouth of Christies Creek in 2021.

Great beach for families. There are kids playgrounds, cafe, ice cream shops, mini train and areas for picnic. We normally come here to grab fish and chips to eat whilst sitting on the grass. Everything is easily accessible, with plenty of parking.

Semaphore Beach has something for everyone. I highly recommend a visit! The mini train added a touch of recreation and nostalgia, making it a great spot not just for relaxation but also for fun-filled activities. Whether you’re looking for a quiet day by the sea or an afternoon of family fun.

Lying on the white sand and swimming with the waves are my ways of enjoying and connecting with mother nature in this clean and beautiful place. Playgrounds are ideal for families with kids. It’s only about 17km from the CBD. Parking is easy and clean as well. I can’t remember the number of times I’ve been here because they’re too many to remember.

A great beach to take the family. Dunes are nice, plenty of grassed area over a kilometre or so just behind the dunes. Near the jetty is always pretty vibrant on the weekends. The sand bar near here makes a nicer/safer swimming spot for the kids at higher tides, as well as the water seems to be warmer there too.

  1. Glenelg Beach is basically my happy place! ? The sandy shores, the chill vibes – it’s a 5-star escape right in Adelaide’s backyard.

I love how there’s room for everyone to spread out, whether you’re into building sandcastles, catching waves, or just catching some rays. And can we talk about those sunset views? Unreal! ?

Jetty Road is like the cool neighbor of the beach. Shops, cafes – it’s the perfect spot to grab a snack or a cute souvenir after you’ve had your fill of sun and sea.

Bonus points for how clean and well-kept everything is. No beach day drama here!

Glenelg Beach is my go-to when I need a quick break from reality. If you’re in Adelaide and haven’t soaked up the Glenelg goodness, you’re seriously missing out. It’s the kind of place that turns a regular day into a mini-vacay. ?️

  2. This gorgeous beach is a ‘must-visit’ when you are in the area, even more so during a sunny day! Large lawns for picknics or while having a bite to eat. Enjoyed walking out on the pier!

  3. Glenelg beach is nice, has some sea weeds at the shore but once you pass that and walk/swim inside then it’s better to swim, walk or play. We enjoyed the Ferris wheel as it had a good view of the entire beach and city.
Apart from the Beach, I liked various eateries around, it has all inter continental delicacies available.

  4. The beach is beautiful with lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. We spent New Years Eve on the beach and the fireworks were amazing. Long white sandy beaches. The sand is super soft.

  5. Truly beautiful place. Trams straight from Adelaide.
Great selection of shops, restaurants and bars. Stunning beach which goes on forever. Great place for families to relax.
