2 weeks agoA beautiful and imposing momument in the centre of Christchurch. Nice to admire and an addition to the cities scenery. If you are within walking distance this could warrant a visit for sure.a month agoVery beautiful place! Was lucky enough to take some pictures while the entire place was a ghost town. 🙂a week agoA fitting memorial to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Get there early to avoid crowds to fully appreciate.4 months agoStumbled upon this memorial on a general walk around. You pass under it (similar engravings on both sides) as you cross the Avon to get to riverside market. Nice!5 months agoOne of the many landmarks in Christchurch, a bridge with much history. It’s worth a visit if you’re near the Riverside market, but if you’re not, I wouldn’t specifically recommend coming here specially for this.

This compound is so beautiful. There are many good houses, with gardens, trees, flowers. The bush on Sat morning is a farmer market where the local come to buy good, organic stuff or have breakfast, coffee. I like the comminity supporting local business. People are friendly.
The forest at Riccarton Bush is a hidden paradise. I embarked on a 1.5km walk through its winding paths, and the experience was otherworldly. Surrounded by native New Zealand trees, it felt like I was exploring an untouched wilderness. The serene beauty of this forest was truly enchanting, and I half-expected to see Tarzan swing through the trees. A must-visit for nature lovers and adventurers! ???
Look up and around you and you will find a lot of birds ? mainly pigeons.

Nice quiet restaurant in a well kept historical building situated in the park .. finishes lunch at 3pm –
..still coffee and cake available
Cycled past it multiple times, in a bike route superb park, lots trees greenery with this homestead nestled in. I have not gone to the cafe myself, but a trusted friend did, and he highly rated it. Passed buy while that had their market, the fresh bread stall was so tempting I stored and brought sandwiches for my family to take away, they really can through on taste and quality ingredients. Lots of other stalls there, too, looked like a pretty good market.
Riccarton Bush gives You the adventure feeling of a jungle tour, an extraordinary expierience when You think You are in the middle of a city…
I highly recommend a guided tour through the Riccarton House. It is done by John Hoskin. He was born in 1937 (!) and is such an honorous person who combines fantastic knowledges with a brilliant sense of humor, so that is an absolut pleasure to follow his words and get part of the journy to the past and learn about the historic and familiary background.
In combination with the friendly cafe with the good tasting offers we had a perfect day.
Thank You very much.
