I would recommend anyone, who is visiting Sydney, must check this place. It’s free to enter and you can enter into the treasure of Australian culture and heritage. They arrange exhibitions time to time, which you might have to book online. Kids zone is fantastic. If you have a kid, they will love it. Moreover, there is little food places inside the museum in two floors- selling coffee and limited food items like cupcakes, sandwiches. They have a gift shop at the entrance, where you can buy souvenirs for yourself or for your loved ones.

It was a wonderful experience. We went for the Rameses Egypt exhibition and everything was amazing. The artifacts, information and pictures were all very nice. The museum in general, was so massive that we did not get to see everything in one day. Therefore we’ll definitely come here again.

Very informative museum. A bit disappointed on the dinosaur exhibit as the place was too dark to even read some of the info. I had to brighten the phone settings. The place is well maintained and clean. Staff at each exhibit is present to provide more info. Staff were all smile and frienly. Cafe at the second floor, great food selections and coffee. Lots of table. Shops at the entrance, lots of stuff for kids to buy.

    Exhibition:

RAMSES And The Gold Of The Pharaohs

Pros: We were fascinated and delighted at the way it was set out.

The staff were so helpful and friendly and smiling. Quite rare to see nowadays and it made the whole experience even better.

The videos, the educational aspects, the layouts and the artifacts themselves were absolutely fascinating and perfectly done.

VR Experience: AMAZING it is well worth the extra dollars to go and experience this.

We had looked forward to this for quite a while, but we’re a bit skeptical about how it was going to be set out.

    We were definitely impressed!

The gift shop had some beautiful items in it too. Make sure you take some extra cash so that you can buy something to take home to remind you of this great experience

Getting there: We parked out on the street but it would probably be advisable to get there via public transport as parking could be difficult. Trains and buses are very close to the venue.

The museum itself is such a beautiful place. We can’t wait to go back there to see another exhibition.

    Highly recommended it!

Oh! I did the pros but, I forgot the cons…

The truth is I can’t really find any.

The only thing that I could say is that there doesn’t seem to be that many food or drink options there and parking is not the best.

But the whole experience was a 10 out of 10 for me

  1. Lovely experience, amazing art by Vasily Kandinsky and Louise Bourgeois. The exquisite exhibitions were quite remarkable. Since setting my naked eye upon the superb artistic production, I have been dearly astonished in the most splendid of ways. Twas’ quite the experience, one in which I shall never wish upon forgetting. I hope my dear fellows reading this venture upon into this superlative establishment. I wish thee who is reading this have a fine evening.
    Sincerely, Local Guide

  2. I’m in love with the new wing of the NSW Art Gallery. It’s spacious and bright, with lovely views to the outdoors, exciting visiting exhibitions and a great gift shop.

I think you love it (me!) because it’s beautiful to walk around in, or you hate it (heaps of other people) because it feels like it’s a bit empty and doesn’t have the ‘super famous, classic’ art. ? Well, it’s free to visit, so it’s really no big deal if you go, decide it’s not for you, and then leave.

If you’re a tourist visiting Sydney, it’s super easy to pop by on your way to the Royal Botanic Gardens or Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair. It’s very accessible and a nice opportunity to see Australian art.

The more ‘classic’ work is in the old building. Have a browse, have fun.

  3. It is worth planning a few hours for this place. Personally, I am very pleased with the visit. The atmosphere is wonderful and friendly, I was greeted at the door and given short instructions about current exhibitions.
There are many levels and the thematic range is diverse. That’s why I’m convinced that everyone will find something interesting.
The new building/wing includes modern and interactive installations, which I liked the most.

I am adding this place to my favourites and looking forward to visit it again.

  4. Recently, we visited the gallery of New South Wales for the important Kandinsky exhibition. It was fantastic. Everyone was very excited about the exhibition, and the collection of Kandinsky‘s work was remarkable, truly remarkable. I wasn’t the only one who was moved by the power of art Many were,

The gallery seems to have more room more space more freedom now that it has an extra building. I think this is a good thing as the demand for art and high-level culture is increasing.

  5. Lovely experience, amazing art by Vasily Kandinsky and Louise Bourgeois. The gallery as a whole is a great space, love the new North building especially the tank. We try two of restaurants both nice friendly venues. Simple menu but reasonably priced, quick and efficient service. I have been to the gallery before and will go back in the future. I recommend buying your tickets before you go online if you can, you will avoid waiting and most likely get a good deal.
