6 months agoOne of my favourite spots to walk, always clean and easy to walk through, can 100% make up your own pathway. This to me is worth the drive Dog friendly, child friendly, chicken friendly2 months agoNothing too exciting to see here, but a real peaceful place for a walk.a month agoAmazing place for a walk. Pram and wheelchair accessible, good parking. Walked it in about 2 hours stopping often to look at the trees or ducks. Baby loved it, was nice and quiet and not too busy. Perfect for a picnic or dare/walk, would highly recommend.a year agoGreat little park. Takes about 1-1.5hours. Plenty of seating and table and chairs scattered around the walk including little covered over shelters. Chicken and ducks are common sight with a few cows. Some lovely grassy areas near the start very suitable for a picnic. A few maps around the place to help are it can get a bit disorientating. One suggestion would be slightly more signage to inform people about varied areas and trees.3 weeks agoA free place to visit. Pleasant walk among nature but surprised at the lack of birdlife

Visiting Hamilton Gardens in New Zealand is like stepping into a living, breathing storybook of natural wonder and cultural tapestry. As you wander through the meticulously crafted enclosures, you’re transported across time and space. The Japanese Garden of Contemplation offers a serene pause, with its minimalist beauty and tranquil water features whispering ancient Eastern philosophies. In contrast, the Italian Renaissance Garden is a bold celebration of symmetry and splendor, its fountains and statues a testament to human creativity.
Each garden is a universe unto itself, a delicate harmony of flora, architecture, and history. The Maori garden educates and inspires with its indigenous plants and art, connecting visitors to the land’s original guardians. The Tudor Garden, with its knot garden and heraldic beasts, feels like a scene from a Shakespearean play.
Beyond the gardens, the staff are custodians of magic, their passion and knowledge as enriching as the gardens they tend. Even the humblest flower bed is cared for with a reverence that speaks volumes of their dedication.
Hamilton Gardens isn’t just a place to visit; it’s an experience to be absorbed, a journey through the very soul of beauty, culture, and nature. Five stars are inadequate for this Eden-like oasis in New Zealand. It’s a place where every visit feels like the first, where each turn reveals a new secret, and where the world’s beauty is celebrated in every leaf and petal.
Beautiful gardens to look at even if your not ? into gardens it’s free and something to plod around and look at with friends or family, I went with my family and all the kids really enjoyed it. Free to enter, free parking and takes 1-2hours to look at longer if you really want to spend some time taking it in. You can get food and drinks in the cafe and there are things available to donate if you wish.
Absolutely stunning! Exceeded all my expectations! Within Hamilton Gardens, there are several smaller gardens, each with a different theme. Every one of them were unique, beautiful and well maintained. My favourites were the Indian, Italian Renaissance and the Surrealist themed ones. One of my highlights here was seeing a really pregnant fish. I highly recommend giving this place a visit!
This garden is fabulous!
Combined lots of cultures in this amazing sophisticated garden, so good, recommended!
It might be crowded, this place is so popular.
We witnessed an Indian family pick fruit from the kitchen garden and pick rocks throw at the pond, which really bring shame on yourself
Love the Hamilton gardens. The grounds are clean and tidy, easy parking. A great day out with loads to see, learn and experience other countries plants and displays. Really worth the effort to make time to visit. A must see in Hamilton.
