A trip to the unassuming but absolutely beautiful Koombana Bay Foreshore is in order. Comparing it to anything else would be unjust because it has its own unique allure. The kids can have a blast all day long on the spacious playground. Plenty of space to park, and plenty of pavillions furnished with grills and chairs for families to gather around for meals. You may watch wild dolphins if you visit at the right time, and the views of the bay are breathtaking. You should definitely stop by if you find yourself in Bunbury.

Google Map the giant head sculpture and it brings you closer to park right next to the playground. Worth a quick stop when passing thru for the kids and to stretch your legs. Easy access right up to the calm, clean water of Koombana Bay. Not windy sets it apart from many other seafront locations in WA. The Dolphin Discovery Centre a stroll away has volunteers spotting for dolphins n a bell is rung if sighted as they swim right up to shore for a pat, usually warmer seasons early mornings or late afternoons. Play area suited my 2.5 yr old toddler who likes to climb while my less adventurous 4 yr old preferred the sand and sea. Shelters with benches. BBQs. All clean. Shower n tap for rinsing off. Relaxing quiet spot away from crowds of Busselton. You could walk here from Koombana Bay Hotel with a stroller. Highly recommend the Big Swamp Playground for toddlers a brief drive away – less hot in summer. Grab a double cheeseburger from Paddy’s Patties a short drive away to enjoy here.

Koombana Bay Foreshore is a simple yet superb place to visit. It has its own charm and will be unfair to compare with any other. Plus points are children play area is quite big and they can have all day fun. Lots of parking and many sheds with barbeque and seating arrangements for families to enjoy meals. Bay views are stunning and if you come at right time you may see wild dolphins. If you are in Bunbury, it warrants your one visit. Nearby Koombana Bay lookout and Dolphins Discovery Centre are the added attractions.

K o o m b a n a B a y F o r e s h o r e With events on over the last couple of days this places was stacked and the struggle to find parking was real… There are heaps of parking bays so this wouldn’t be a problem on quieter days. There were cyclists, people doing yoga on the grassed area, their drums playing in the background and lots of children running around at the playpark. The flying fox seems to be in high demand and kids are lining up to have their turn. My favourite was the latest public art work displayed in Bunbury … Wardandi Boodja (unveiling was 15.02.2019) – “The five and a half metre corten steel bust sculpture represents a Noongar face and the contemporary artwork pays deep respect to the Noongar people.” Amazing to look at from different angles. There were life guards on the beach and families swimming, enjoying the water. If you look closely you’ll see some dolphins swimming around. There is a cafe to buy food from. The sailing club is situated on private property. So I couldn’t explore that area in more detail. There are campgrounds opposite the main road for those looking to book a couple of nights stay in Bunbury. It’s close to town and the Dolphin Discovery Centre sits at the end of the Foreshore. Toilet and shower facilities are available. A great place for families to relax.

Great place to capture fresh air, view of beautiful water, admire the architectural statue of Wardandi man and kids being entertained with the playground. With bbq facilities and benches available, it’s a perfect spot to catch up with groups of friends. Toilet amenities nearby too. I’ve been there many times with various people and love the place. Highly recommend a visit there.

  1. Fabulous Playcentre, The new zones are amazing for my 2 children’s development. I recently had a disco party at BOORN indoor Playcentre and that was amazing as well ? spiderman was a hit and the kids loved the food ♥️.
The coffee was tasteful and pizzas are the best in Bunbury.
    Well done BOORN team.

  2. 5 stars purely for the lady working there on Friday 10th of November 2023. She was by herself and very busy but she still managed to make sure things were running smoothly. The long black coffee she made me was nice and all though she was very busy by herself there was barely a wait. I’m not sure if she was the manager but I hope she is appreciated.

One suggestion i would make is getting buzzers so people can come collect the meal/drinks from the counter themselves.

  3. A bit disappointed to see broken equipment in baby and toddler area. The bouncy castle is tearing and there are broken toys in the baby area. Some other items look visibly worn. I expect better for the price that is charged. It was also quite hot in there, as other people have mentioned. However, my kids 1 and 3 had a lot of fun, the toilet facilities are clean and well kept, and the sfaff are friendly.
