a month agoThe reception staff is exceptionally friendly. A locked bag drop is available for early check-ins and check-outs. The rooms (at least the double ones we were in) contain a strong AC which is gorgeous for Townsville’s humidity. The kitchen is large and well equipped, it was just completely renovated.The bathrooms were pretty bad, but they are to be renovated next week so this might change soon. 🙂 Overall, cleanliness could be improved which is the reason for the missing star.
2 months agoOne of my favourite hostels in Australia! Clean rooms/ensuite, incredible AC and you have your own fridge in the room! Everyone was very kind and open to newcomers! We also had the pleasure of meeting the owners who kindly offered us a ride to the ferry when the shuttle wasn’t in service, and you couldn’t meet two kinder people! Would recommend staying here during your time in Townsville!4 months agoFriendly staff, convenient location, clean rooms, good AC in my private room.Shower didn’t have hot water though, and there was no blanket in my room (just a sheet). It’s a warm locale, but still would have been nice to have one in the cupboard for those who want it. By the time I realised, staff had gone home for the night.
2 months agoStayed there for a night, the person in reception was polite and straightforward which I personally prefer. All areas were clean and the value was great. Good chilled vibe, would recommend!7 months agoA great place to stay in the heart of Townsville. Friendly and helpful staff. A very well equipped kitchen. They run a tight ship, which ensures other guests are considerate and it’s not noisy at night. Not a party backpackers – a nice relaxing and well serviced place to stay. Highly recommend.

Spent 3 nights here. Fantastic location in the heart of Townsville city. Service by the reception staff was attentive and friendly. I stayed in a Queen room, the room was basic but great for the price. The bed was rock hard which didn’t suit me well at all.
Unfortunately the coffee and milk in my room was not replenished by housekeeping during my stay which was a little disappointing. Only a minor issue though.
The pool was amazing with lots of sun beds and seating areas surrounding it. The food in the upstairs restaurant was delicious, and the $1.50 oysters on Fridays are fresh and great value for money.
The staff here go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.
A special mention to Hannah from the roof top bar and Jo from reception for going above and beyond.
It’s nice to see customer service is still a priority to some businesses.
The rooms are very clean and beds are comfortable.
Prices for food and drink are good value.
Highly recommend.
Sat upstairs on a Sunday afternoon and had a delightful lunch. Lovely breeze and a fantastic atmosphere. A glass fell off the table and the staff were quick to help clean it up without making us feel bad at all. The food was really good and also inexpensive. This will become a regular place to hang out.
Excellent service from staff and very accommodating. I brought to Bert’s (front desk member) attention that the air-cond was not cooling down the room and he immediately restarted the compressor. On his own accord, he periodically checked on me if the room was cold enough and he himself offered a room change thereafter. Thank you Bert and Rambutan Townsville. I will be back!
Breakfast was served well, with plenty of choice, seating was comfortable and the friendly staff new their menu and were able to put on wonderful breakfast.
I am recommending to all my friends, to give Rambutan breakfast service a go, it was very special ?
