Street food refers to food or drinks sold by a hawker or vendor on a street or at other public places, such as markets, fairs, and parks. It is often sold from a portable food booth, food cart, or food truck and is meant for immediate consumption. Some street foods are regional, but many have spread beyond their regions of origin. Most street foods are classified as both finger food and fast food and are typically cheaper than restaurant meals. The types of street food vary between regions and cultures in different countries around the world. According to a 2007 study from the Food and Agriculture Organization, 2.5 billion people eat street food every day. While some cultures consider it to be rude to walk on the street while eating, a majority of middle- to high-income consumers rely on the quick access and cheap service of street food for daily nutrition and job opportunities, especially in developing countries.

Today, governments and other organizations are increasingly concerned with both the socioeconomic importance of street food and its associated risks. These risks include food safety, sanitation, illegal use of public or private areas, social problems, and traffic congestion.

Great little venue for Vietnamese food. Had the Noodle Deluxe bowl and had lots of sweet, savoury and sour classic Vietnamese flavours alongside the usual BBQ/crispy pork and grilled chicken protein. All delicious especially with extra chilli!

I’ve lived on Bank St. for more than a year and always walked by this place. Today, I finally tried it out and the food was awesome! I had the grilled chicken fried rice bowl and can’t wait to try more dishes soon.

seems a pretty chilled place. no complaints about the service whatsoever. food actually tastes quite decent however the quality of it is disturbing as both of me and my friend got diarrhea after our meals.

Small restaurant with quick service. Food tasted fresh and great value. With drinks and shared spring rolls it was $25 PP

The food was excellent (I ordered the Crispy Pork and Rice and some spring rolls) and presented well for a takeaway order. However, for the price you pay, the serving was quiet small. The service was quick and friendly, however, the server didn’t quiet understand or know the menu when I placed my order and was confused when I asked for the order.

  1. Had an amazing lunch at the Pure Vegetarian/Vegan lunch stall at the Central Market Food Plaza. You get to choose 3 food options, 4 food options or choos everything for about AUD $ 13.5. If you are hungry go for everything and you will love the food. Make sure you get there before 3:00 PM, they close by 3. If you are there well before then you get more options.

  2. Always a good choice of places to eat. Can be difficult to find a seat during busy periods, like Friday evenings.
I had some Teriyaki chicken and rice, and it was so very yummy. I also got a drink (with a funny name) from the Asian market just next to food court. ?

  3. best markets I’ve seen in Australia! exceptional range of produce, artisan products, ready meals and all at a great price. there is a few low/zero waste stalls to bring your own containers and get quality staples, love the pea protien powder. loads of vegetarian options for food and a great option for work lunches or weekend treats.

  4. Very busy, that alone is a testimate of what it is like. Good food and prices, some of the ladies are real characters. Cheap prices but good food. Great selection of food. If you can’t find something here then you are not hungry. Highly recommended.
