It is the district defined in 1967 as "the area contained in the Shires of Landsborough, Maroochy and Noosa, but excluding Bribie Island". Located 100 km (62 mi) north of the centre of Brisbane in South East Queensland, on the Coral Sea coastline, its urban area spans approximately 60 km (37 mi) of coastline and hinterland from Pelican Waters to Tewantin.
The area has several coastal hubs at Caloundra, Kawana Waters, Maroochydore and Noosa Heads. Nambour and Maleny have developed as primary commercial centres for the hinterland.
Since 2014, the Sunshine Coast district has been split into two local government areas, the Sunshine Coast Region and the Shire of Noosa, which administer the southern and northern parts of the Sunshine Coast respectively.

We had a family dinner at this Asian restaurant, food district close by the ocean. Young staff nice and professional. We had fried chicken, asian fried rice, which were all right. Maybe the prawn Gyoza plate were slightly misleading. I was expecting whole prawns but in fact prawn dumplings were served. Could not really feel the taste of the prawns. Also a plate of tossed greens at $14 were a bit too expensive. Still, we enjoied the place and we might give it a second chance. Stone & Wood beer was good.

Went to Junk last night for the first time, the vibe as soon as you walk in is amazing, the lighting and feel is awesome.

The food was unreal, my favourite was the greens, pork bao and massaman!! So many flavours and just delicious! I asked for a lychee on the top of my drink and got 2!!!

The service from Sam and Renata was amazing and I would go back just because of how they were, customer service is honestly everything and they were!!! Thank you for making our first trip to junk so good!!

Can’t wait to come back and try more and I LOVE the concept that they only do dine in. It’s definitely worth going! ?

If you’ve heard good things about Junk – they’re all TRUE! The staff were so welcoming and helpful, and the food was sensational! We wish we’d discovered this place earlier. “Pad Junk” is absolutely excellent, and the bento box is perfect for lunch, with a decent selection of delicious and flavour-filled treats. So many fantastic looking Asian Fusion dishes to choose from!’

The service was fantastic. The food was great, their Junk Thai was delicious with a good mix of flavour and spice.

The Pork Bao was good, could be better with a bit more flavour and moisture. The Satay rice bowl was good too but felt like it needs more flavour but this could be due to tofu and not meat with more flavour to accent the satay rice. The pork dumplings were delicious. Overall, it was great and highly recommend Junk!

Staying at the Sunshine Coast on holidays and we came across this place for dinner. First thing we noticed is how great the service was, very prompt and friendly staff. The beef curry was honestly one of the yummiest curries I’ve had in a long time.

  1. Been coming here for years now over a decade, it’s still one of my favourite fish and chip shops on the sunny coast. Staff are friendly and awesome chips , awesome fish all fresh and never has let me down! Thanks you legends, you’ve done it again !

  2. We got takeaways for our family of 7. Tried a variety of foods including the burgers, battered fish, grilled fish, salads and oysters. We had great service and everything was delicious.

  3. It’s just a fish and chip shop. The reviews made this sound like a nice dining experience but they don’t even serve on plates for dine in, just all packed like takeaway. The food was fine, nice fish and chip shop food. Nothing special, not the best fish and chips I’ve ever had but nice. This was recommended as a place to go on a website for a couples weekend away but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for that. I think people hype things up too much on online reviews. It’s a good option if you’re looking for fish and chips, not seafood platters and romantic meals.

  4. The fresh fish sold here is exactly that…fresh! We stopped by this bustling fish market for some cooked fish. Our order was battered cod with chips. The cod was pure white, chunky & perfectly cooked. Only peeve we had was the batter wasn’t as crunchy as we like it, went soggy very quickly & we dined in. Chips were great, with a nice crunch & seasoned salt.

  5. Yummy seafood!!! We bought a kilo of Tiger Prawns and half a dozen oysters to celebrate Australia Day, we were not disappointed. Prawns were juicy and sweet and the oysters were fresh and delicious.
