in the last weekThe top lookout is absolutely beautiful. Impressed with the free gas BBQ SYSTEM surrounded by gorgeous high trees with plenty of shade and the BBQ area is next to public toilets which was a plus. Great for families and their dogs. First time visiting and loved it.6 months agoA very nice park with breathtaking views. There is plenty of parking as well. It’s pretty close to the bogey hope as well so you park here and then walk down to the hidden gem. There is a lookout spot here as well which offers a great view of the horizon as well as the Newcastle beach towards the left.A spot on place for a nice walk and a swim as well if you wanna go down the bogey hole.
10 months agoBeautiful park. Drive or walk through the park. There are plenty of places to take a photo. Brilliant flower garden at the time of walking through. Wonder views of the ocean. Nice walking trails. It’s worth a look. Toilets and BBQ facilities are available.2 months agoIt is a place to relax, have a picnic, read, enjoy time with nature. There is also a beautiful building where weddings take place. It’s a peaceful placea month agoFor as far as I don’t go every day, the park was excellent. We were there for the Newcastle Permanent Cinema unde the stars and the evening was a superb event. Particularly for the fact the weather was on our side.Would go one day in the day time to see the nature in full daylight.
Was nice, hope will be same on my next visit.

Came across this wonderful reserve today and so glad we did. It’s beautifully maintained, with many walking tracks, sheltered seating areas, alongside BBQ areas, clean restrooms & various shelters that you can book in advance. The well constructed walkways take you amongst the trees, where you can see an amazing variety of animals. At the pond, we stopped and were thrilled to see many tortoises, trying to camouflage themselves amongst the underwater habitat. There is also a well constructed playground with lots of tactile activities for the kids.
A perfect spot for the whole family! ???
What a huge and wonderful place for family barbecues and picnics and areas to play.
The animal enclosure was such a surprise…
Sadly, we were let down by the absence and clarity of signage for walking. We would come to the t junction and sign showing 2 directions not 3 and placed in a funny spot.
We have hiked many parks and we were dismayed to get lost at this one and walked right outside onto the main road to get back to our car.
Good place to take the whole family with play ground, walking trails, electric barbecues, park benches and tables, paid under cover shelter and even a kiosk (closed when we visited on a Tuesday). Nicely maintained and kept clean. Entry is free but there are parking metres out in the parking lot with minum fee of $5. There’s a duck pond located just after the well maintained lawn near the entrance with peacocks and wild turkeys roaming the grounds even out in the car park area. In the enclosed animal enclosures there are wallabies, kangaroos and emus.
What a great area, always drove past to/from work but never knew what it was. Great for kids parties, large grass area, playground and BBQ areas. Parking is $14 for the day but entry to see animals is free so well worth it. Also lots of bushwalks, get amongst it!
The last time I had been here was close to a decade ago. The amount of effort put in to upgrade the facilities and cleanup the water quality in the main pond is phenomenal. Highly recommend this place for eating a takeaway lunch or just quiet contemplation during the week. Not so quiet on weekends or holidays.
