A Comprehensive Guide to Using a Self-Service Car Wash

Using a self-service car wash can be a simple and cost-effective way to clean your vehicle. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use a self-service car wash:

  1. Locate a Self-Service Car Wash: Use search engines or apps to find a nearby self-service car wash station.
  2. Prepare Your Vehicle: Remove any personal belongings, trash, or loose objects from the car’s exterior.
  3. Choose Your Service: Most self-service car washes offer different cleaning options, like soap, rinse, wax, etc. You may need to insert coins, bills, or a credit/debit card to select the desired service.
  4. Pre-Rinse: Before applying soap, use the high-pressure rinse to remove loose dirt and debris.
  5. Apply Soap: Select the soap option and use the wand to spray your car. Start from the top and work your way down, covering all areas.
  6. Scrub if Necessary: Some stations provide a foam brush. You can scrub your car to remove stubborn dirt. Be gentle to avoid scratching your car’s paint.
  7. Rinse: After scrubbing, choose the rinse option to wash away the soap. Again, start from the top and work your way down.
  8. Wax (Optional): Some self-service car washes offer a wax option. Apply this if you want a protective coating on your vehicle.
  9. Dry Your Vehicle: Use the provided air dryer or a microfiber towel to dry your car. Drying by hand can prevent water spots.
  10. Vacuum Interior (Optional): Some locations have vacuum stations to clean your car’s interior. Insert coins or pay as required.
  11. Inspect Your Vehicle: Do a final walk-around to ensure all areas are clean and to your satisfaction.
  12. Follow Safety Guidelines: Always adhere to the instructions and warnings provided at the car wash station. Wear appropriate clothing, and be mindful of slippery floors.
  13. Leave the Bay Clean: If there’s a trash can, dispose of any garbage. Put away any provided tools like brushes back where they belong.
  14. Exit Promptly: Be mindful of others waiting and exit the wash bay in a timely manner.

As travellers from South Australia heading to Canberra from Deniliquin, your car is obviously going to get very dirty. But, upon washing here, the car was spotless. 100% recommended, cheap and convenient.

What would you expect from a car wash? This is a little different because when using the drive through wash there is a staff member who will wash your extra dity bits such as insect and bugs by hand while you are waiting your turn and while inside the facility. This is a wash with a difference.

Tried using carpet shampoo, only to put my money through and only selection says out of order, as being the only place that does carpet shampoo, need to maintain your equipment better and give refunds. Also out of order should be more visible instead of a masking tape

I was able to bring my small caravan through and wash it in a bay with platforms either side. It’s rare to find a car wash with these platforms and I was really thankful for it.

5 Replies to The 13 Best Self Wash Car Washes in Wagga Wagga

  1. Absolutely Outraged! Approached the car wash paid my $16 and said hello to the elderly Man there. He then began to wash my car and swear at me while doing so! He also aggressively clipped my wing mirror with he’s brush causing minor damage! I tried multiple times to get in contact but no one will answer the phone. If this continues I will be contacting the authorities.

  2. Good car was. Uses really high pressure jets of water which gets all the bug spatter that we get on our vehicles. It doesn’t blow dry the car though so make sure you take the option of Spot Free Rinse

  3. Used the automatic car wash to get my car washed and I can tell if worked amazing.

3 stars for the vacuum because it suction was so low that I ended up not cleaning the inside of my car.
