How to Shop Like a Local at Coles in Melton

Shopping at Coles in Australia can be a convenient and enjoyable experience. Here are some tips and tricks to enhance your shopping trip:

  • Plan your shopping list: Before heading to Coles, make a list of the items you need to purchase. This will help you stay focused and save time in the store.
  • Check the catalog: Coles releases a weekly catalog with special offers and discounts. Browse through the catalog to find any deals on items you regularly purchase.
  • Download the Coles app: The Coles app is a handy tool that allows you to create shopping lists, view recipes, and even access exclusive discounts. It also provides users with personalized offers based on their purchasing habits.
  • Sign up for a Flybuys card: Flybuys is Coles’ loyalty program that rewards customers with points for their purchases. These points can be redeemed for various rewards such as discounts on future groceries or even flights.
  • Be mindful of unit prices: Coles displays the unit price of each product on the shelf label. This allows you to easily compare the cost per unit of different brands or pack sizes and make an informed decision.
  • Shop at quieter times: Coles tends to be busier during peak hours, such as weekends and evenings. If possible, try to shop during quieter times to avoid long queues and have a more relaxed shopping experience.
  • Bring your own bags: Coles supports environmental sustainability and charges a fee for single-use plastic bags. Remember to bring your reusable bags or purchase them at the store.
  • Check for markdowns: Coles often marks down perishable items, such as fruits, vegetables, and baked goods, nearing their expiration dates. Look out for these items for potential savings.

The name is Joyce, she served my disabled wife on Checkout no. 8 on 05 June 2023 between 1:45-1:50 pm. She was just pushing all the scanned items and my wife kept doing the bagging. I asked her if they no longer doing it, and she said ” yes, we do”. Unfortunately, she kept pushing the items out and did nothing. She just looked at us and rolled her eyes. Is this the service we get from being a regular customer? You should teach this kind of staffs you have. She’s a regular i suppose.

    Would usually give 5 stars.
Minus 2 Stars because the store managers fail to maintain trolley and basket Steriwipes to prevent Covid19. All too often the dispensers are empty.

Store stock item range are pretty good.

Just another middle finger if you’re going to give us paper bags, at least give us bigger ones and not to mention too why s*** ones why not use hemp or something? we’re paying 25 cents for your paper bags with your logo on it for roughly five sheets of A4 paper what bloody knobs! When everything used to be free? Not to mention too your catalogs have more paper and have print on them and they are worth nothing

I’m so sick and tired of going to Coles at Woodgrove and finding so many empty shelves. So I think ok will come back in a few days and try and find the things I missed out on. They never have enough staff on the checkouts. Today was the final straw I went to Woolworths in Woodgrove all the shelves fully stocked and the staff were so good. That is where I am heading from now on. LIFT YOUR GAME COLES

It’s okay but we went shopping for our weekly groceries at 6.30pm because both myself and my husband work full time and we had to serve ourselves on the self checkout ad no staff were on the register and only 1 lady in the other checkout. When u spend alot of money a week u expect someone to serve u. Where has all the services gone.

  1. I always come to this Coles for my household shopping. The staff at the self-checkout is well-trained and helpful.
And my shopping experience is very good .
This Coles is on station road in Melton south in Melton square shopping center where you can access other restaurants and a coin laundry nearby.
Very convenient and close to Melton train station. Most of the isles are fully stocked especially fresh produce. Only time you will find missing veggies and fruits on weekends late afternoon as most of the staff is off the floor and no one is available to do the filling, may be management is not interested to sell there stock in warehouse ? other than that big and spacious Coles with all modern amenities in store. Very well maintained and designed not like the other small Coles in Melton. The trolley collection point in the car park needs attention as the poles are damaged. This store has dedicated chicken, beef, fish, deli and bakery sections which shows how big this Coles. I can compare this Coles with the Woolworths at Opalia center nearby. The plus point is the prices which are reasonably low unless it’s on special at Woolworths. Their Freezer section is also very large and has a lot of products which you can’t find in other stores and the last thing if you need organic fresh produce is also available in this store.

  2. Lisa needs to be fired!!! Firstly, they refused to open checkouts to serve customers.

When we are forced to pack our own bags, Lisa comes over, stands right next to you and makes comments about how you’re scanning your items. I could smell her breath, that’s how close she was.

So rude. She was a complete smarta** and making unnecessary comments.
She made me feel like a criminal.

I’ve never seen such pathetic, rude behaviour. She needs to retire.

  3. i am very disappointed with my experience at the Deli at this Coles. I was served by a clearly new employee, a tall man with brown hair and a beard (ps why does he not have any sort of net on his beard?) He was extremely slow at his job, and was easily confused by the simple questions i was asking. i was frustrated after usually being served at this deli flawlessly by the other employees, who clearly put more care and effort into their work than he does. I asked for thinly sliced ham, and he gave me VERY THICK chunks. I watched him struggle with this seemingly easy task that any deli worker should know how to do. he had to ask his coworkers for help multiple times which just made the process take even longer. i could not even eat what he had given me as it was so poorly handled. i would be greatly appreciative if the melton south deli team could address this issue, as i will not be returning if I see him working.

  4. I always shop at coles , but lately few months notice we never got baked bread on the shelf’s so today I ask a worker on the bakery , why is 10:30 and is no bread, politely he said since we not back in the house the time bread gets here and we pack , is no bread on the shelf’s . After that I approach other coles worker and I ask to talk to the manager , he replay is me , and keep walking and waiving is hands for me to follow him , not a knowledge me just keep doing us job scanning cakes . I explain to him the story and ask is 10:30 and no bread , I always buy bread on the weekends and in never bread on the shelf’s, is answered was , well wen people stop calling sick you will have bread on the shelf’s. I said to him annoyed is not every Saturday and Sunday , few months back people call sick ,And walk away .
Walking true the islands , there it is the manager Shannon talking to is mate about home issues filling deodorants and the shelf’s were pretty full . Then as a manager you should be helping, the bakers bagging bread because is 11:00 am and no bread on shelf s , not filling deodorants . @coles should send you manager Shannon to a course how to deal with customers , and from today I will every Saturday and Sunday , I will go to the store to buy bread and if is anything on the shelf s I will comment every day to prove my point , just because you don’t want to pay for the workers to bake on site , customers are suffering because at 11:00 am and no bread no the shelf’s.

  5. Extremely disappointed with the Deli department! I’m a local & being shopping here for 5 years. Every time I buy salami’s, ham I always ask for thinner slices to be cut of my choice, as I find the pre-cut slicers too thick and have never had an issue until today. I asked for a ham to be cut thinner and the Deli assistant said she can’t do that, the pre-cut is all she has. I said no because it’s too thick and she couldn’t cut another choice of ham cause it’s all she’s got also! I left very disappointed that you can’t have your ham sliced thinner, with any choice! Why not then display your hams/salami’s in bulk (uncut) like other deli’s do?? If you’ve pre-cut a whole heap and it’s not to the customers liking, don’t expect the customer is going to buy it, because you have to now sell what you’ve pre-cut!! And then tell customers‘That’s all you have’. This is absolutely ridiculous! Lift up your game Deli Melton South. Very unhappy customer here and I won’t be buying from this Deli again
