Pros and Cons of Shopping at Woolworth

Woolworths and traditional markets both offer different shopping experiences that cater to different needs and preferences. Here are some pros and cons to consider when choosing between the two:

Woolworth:

  • Pros:
  • – Convenience: Woolworths stores are typically located in easily accessible areas, making it convenient for shoppers to visit.
  • – Wide variety: Woolworths offers a wide range of products, including groceries, clothing, household items, and electronics, providing shoppers with one-stop shopping convenience.
  • – Quality assurance: Woolworths often offers branded products, ensuring a certain level of quality for shoppers.
  • – Online shopping: Woolworths also provides the option for shoppers to purchase items online and have them delivered to their doorstep, saving time and effort.
  • Cons:
  • – Higher prices: Compared to traditional markets, Woolworths products are generally priced higher due to factors such as branding and convenience.
  • – Limited bargaining: Shoppers may not have the opportunity to negotiate prices or bargain with sellers as they would in traditional markets.
  • – Less personal interaction: The shopping experience at Woolworths may lack the personal interaction and connection that can be found in traditional markets.

Traditional market:

  • Pros:
  • – Lower prices: Traditional markets often offer products at lower prices compared to Woolworth, as they usually source directly from producers or wholesalers.
  • – Bargaining opportunities: Shoppers can negotiate prices or bargain with sellers, potentially obtaining better deals.
  • – Fresh and local products: Traditional markets are known for offering a variety of fresh and locally sourced products, allowing shoppers to support local businesses and enjoy a unique shopping experience.
  • – Personal interaction: Shoppers can directly communicate with sellers, forming connections and gaining insights about the products they are purchasing.
  • Cons:
  • – Limited variety: Traditional markets may have a limited range of products compared to larger stores like Woolworth.
  • – Inconvenience: Traditional markets are often located in specific areas, requiring shoppers to travel to reach them.
  • – Time-consuming: Shopping at traditional markets can be more time-consuming due to the need to visit multiple stalls or vendors to find everything on your shopping list.

Ultimately, the choice between Woolworths and traditional markets depends on personal preferences, budget, and shopping needs. While Woolworths offers convenience, a wide variety, and quality assurance, traditional markets provide lower prices, bargaining opportunities, fresh and local products, and personal interaction.

My husband and I shop here regularly and no issues however we shopped this week and asked the gentlemen at the deli a question regarding a particular product the response we got was “buggered if I know”. This is the standard of customer service we received the last time this gentlemen served us he was that quick that we felt rushed. Very disappointed in the response we got regarding a simple question

The store is an absolute mess. Random items everywhere. Half filled cartons on top of half filled cartons. Tins of food upside down and sideways. Sugar and flour filled onto the shelves backwards. These are just a few. The whole aisle looks like a mess. What a joke.
What are their fillers doing? The filling standard needs to be improved. And why are there so many pallets of load on the shop floor! I can barely move past some of the aisles because of this. There was someone coming the other way and we had to awkwardly step around each other. Wth are you guys doing! It’s like you just don’t care or notice at all.

  1. CHECK DATES WHEN BUYING! Staff don’t stock rotate shelves and quality of packaged fruit and veg is terrible. Have taken product back because it was over 6 months out of date and a lot of fresh produce is unusable. Packet of 9 apples today expiring in 2 weeks are sold and shrivelled and inedible. Meat and cheese packets expired 2-3 weeks before purchasing. Purchased mixed packaged products today and the further back on the shelf the closer it was to expiring. All new product was at the front of the shelves. Worst Woolworths I’ve ever shopped at.

  2. Ok I have one major annoyance overall willing to change my star rating to 5 stars but the issue I have is every time I shop here with a trolly I get an electric shock when pushing any trolly around the store over those metal strips

  3. Really great customer service from the staff at Mount Gambier store. They assisted me with a purchase that was time consuming and would have been annoying for them (and which the other large chain store flatly refused to help me with) they were polite and more than happy to help. Thank you ?

  4. I found Chloe in express checkout area, Sunday afternoon , extremely helpful. She was able to locate my lost reading glasses ( from day before) and did it all with a smile and courtesy . Thank you Chloe
