a month agoThe seats in the cinema are quite worn and the armrests are disintegrating. I appreciate the effort to use 100% recyclable cups and popcorn packages, but it would be great to see recycling bins around to support this initiative. People at the top really need to align the ‘eco-friendly’ image with practical measures.5 months agoThe movie was great the seats were great the only down side was that they never had one of the food items I wanted and I watched the Barbie movie in gold class and was looking forward to the special cocktail they had on offer the drink came out and it was a normal blue cocktail I was looking forward to the special drink to.? The staff members could of at least told me the drink was unavailable so I could of chosen a different drink. Otherwise the food we got was nice the drink not so much worth the experience just remember to ask if foods and drinks are available.?2 weeks agoSeats are worn and very pricey.. music and quality of film was good though. I wish Gold class had their own toilets as you have to walk all the way to access.6 months agoWent recently to see Barbie and have to say the staff did an amazing job. They were run off their feet but were still very friendly and welcoming. They always do an amazing job. Shout out to Mia who served us. She was so lovely.

I can’t say much about the cinema experience as I didn’t make it that far.
I’m sure the cinema is probably quite lovely.
However the reason for this review is I could not find anywhere to park. Everywhere in the immediate area is max 15min parking and surrounding area being max 1hr. These limits in place until 9pm ?. How are we supposed to get to the cinema without having to fork out more on a taxi. I’m not from the area(nth coast) so finding my way around isn’t quite as easy, and being dressed is bike gear in hot traffic get quite tiring driving around in the traffic trying to find a parking lot. Quite frustrating. We ended up changing our plans and going to village instead. ?
Great vibe, historic cinema.
Seats are slightly smaller, as is the screen vs the likes of Hoyts or Village. But you go to State Cinema for the vibe, a relaxed atmosphere with a Cafe attached, parking out the back for customers (which I only realised after I’d parked 2 blocks away)
First visit to the theatre since coming to live in Hobart. Absolutely loved the ambience and vibe. Staff we so helpful. Ice creams were the best ever!
