Hamilton (Māori: Kirikiriroa) is an inland city in the North Island of New Zealand. Located on the banks of the Waikato River, it is the seat and most populous city of the Waikato region. With a territorial population of 185,300, it is the country's fourth most-populous city. Encompassing a land area of about 110 km2 (42 sq mi), Hamilton is part of the wider Hamilton Urban Area, which also encompasses the nearby towns of Ngāruawāhia, Te Awamutu and Cambridge. In 2020, Hamilton was awarded the title of most beautiful large city in New Zealand. The area now covered by the city was originally the site of several Māori villages, including Kirikiriroa, from which the city takes its Māori name. By the time English settlers arrived, most of these villages, which sat beside the Waikato River, were abandoned as a result of the Invasion of Waikato and land confiscation (Raupatu) by the Crown.
Initially an agricultural service centre, Hamilton now has a diverse economy and is the third fastest growing urban area in New Zealand, behind Pukekohe and Auckland. Hamilton Gardens is the region's most popular tourist attraction. Education and research and development play an important part in Hamilton's economy, as the city is home to approximately 40,000 tertiary students and 1,000 PhD-qualified scientists.

First visit, ordered the Malaysian specialties, and it was truly amazing. The ingredients were excellent, the chef was highly skilled, the flavors were top-notch, and the portion size was generous. Will definitely return many more times and can’t wait to recommend this authentic Malaysian cuisine to friends.

Tired with all the fusion hype? Then come in here for some real authentic food! We ordered more than we normally would because we wanted to try them all since we are from out of town. Char Kway Teow was superb. It brought us back to our trip to Penang instantly. Laksa was rich, bold and flavorful. We couldn’t stop drinking the soup even though we were full already. Malay tofu came out piping hot, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, my three year old’s favorite. It’s a simple dish but not many restaurants fry the tofu to perfection. Lastly, the chicken wings were extra crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Portions are large and a good variety of dishes to choose from. The entire restaurant was kept very clean and the owners are just so friendly and courteous. They also gave us prawn crackers as a complimentary. We wish we live in town and can have this on a weekly basis. Don’t miss it! They won’t disappoint!

This is one of my favorite restaurants now. The service is really good. I was wearing a white top when eating my Laksa, a staff brought me larger paper towels for me to cover my clothes even I did not asked for it.

The food taste brilliant. Never disappointed. I had already been here several times and will definitely keep coming back.

  1. great spot for a feed if you’re like me and don’t like sitting at some classy Cafe eating a tiny portion of food with fancy garnishes. this place serves hearty meals like steak, burgers, fish n chips, roast meals, bacon and eggs, some Chinese style dishes like noodles, soups, and also has good fried chicken and bakery food like pies and pastries. if there’s a group of you this is perfect because such a huge variety means there is something for everyone. while the premises and food isn’t first class, neither am I. I just want a good meal for a reasonable price, and I find it here.
    legit hangover cure food.

  2. Although the interior is a little old, don’t let that deter you from ordering their food. I like to dine there at least once a month & I go with my entire family, which can range between 4 adults & 7 children or 6 adults & 10 children.
There is definitely food for all ages at a very good price & generous helpings.

  3. Spent $130 worth of food. Pork was dry. Crackling chewy. Most expensive hot chips in Hamilton and they weren’t worth it at all. They should have been $5 not $9.50
Gravy tasted like mixed veges and not like gravy.
Will never ever eat from here again.

  4. So this was a pleasant surprise after finishing work at midnight, they clearly cater for the late night party crowd and do it really well.
I had a medium pork roast meal and it was better than I expected, pork wasnt dry, roast veg were roasted, mixed veg still had colour in them lol gravy was tasty but not gluggy, and I had a respectably sweetas long black to boot!
And the drunken entertainment was the icing on the cake an all round great show ???
