Pros and Cons of Shopping at Coles
When it comes to choosing where to do your grocery shopping, you may be considering the convenience of a supermarket like Coles or opting for a traditional market. Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages, depending on your specific needs and preferences.
Here are some pros and cons of choosing Coles as your shopping destination:
- Convenience: Coles is a one-stop shop where you can find everything you need in one place. It offers a wide range of products, from fresh produce to household items, making it convenient for shoppers to get all their essentials in a single visit.
- Price competitiveness: Supermarkets like Coles often run promotions and offer discounted prices, making it more affordable for customers to shop for groceries. Coles also has a loyalty program, providing additional savings and benefits for its customers.
- Accessibility: Coles stores are present in various locations, including urban and suburban areas, making it easily accessible for most shoppers. They also offer extended operating hours, providing flexibility for customers to shop at their preferred time.
- Online shopping: Coles provides an online shopping platform, allowing customers to conveniently order their groceries from the comfort of their homes. This can be beneficial for individuals who prefer to avoid crowded spaces or have difficulty physically visiting the store.
- Product variety: Coles offers a wide range of products, including international and specialty items, giving shoppers a diverse selection to choose from. This can be particularly advantageous for customers seeking specific ingredients or exploring new flavors.
On the other hand, traditional markets also have their own set of advantages and disadvantages:
- Freshness: Traditional markets often pride themselves on offering fresh and locally sourced produce. Shoppers can find a variety of fruits, vegetables, seafood, and meat that are often sourced directly from farmers or fishermen. This can be particularly appealing for individuals who prioritize high-quality and organic products.
- Social interaction: Traditional markets provide an opportunity for shoppers to interact with local vendors and build personal connections. It allows customers to ask questions, receive recommendations, and learn more about the origin and production practices of the products they are purchasing.
- Potential for haggling: In traditional markets, there is often room for negotiation and haggling over prices. Shoppers can try to get a better deal by leveraging their bargaining skills, potentially leading to additional savings.
- Cultural experience: Traditional markets offer a unique cultural experience, with vibrant displays of local products and flavors. They can provide a sense of authenticity and a glimpse into the local traditions and customs of the community.
- Availability: Traditional markets may have limitations in terms of product availability, especially when it comes to specialty or international items. They may also have limited operating hours and be located in more specific areas, requiring additional time and effort to access for some customers.
Ultimately, the decision between Coles and traditional markets depends on your personal preferences, priorities, and circumstances. Consider factors such as convenience, price, product variety, freshness, social interaction, and cultural experience to make an informed choice that best suits your needs.

2 months agoAlways good. Great employees and quick and pleasent service.
Only 4 stars because being an older store this store isn’t supported by Coles in stocking all products that are available in the newer Coles stores in the area.2 weeks agoGetting better but still don’t open enough registers.

There veg was better than Coles in Pakenham2 months agoNice store. Good location…modification are in progress so the store doesn’t open until 7am ..9 months agovery disappointing experience today. no one on check out except 12 or less and only one self scanning lane open. gone are the days of service. can’t blame the staff blame lays with the manager. I will be using the main street coles in future where at least for now technology has not taken place of humans9 months agoI just went to Coles Cardinia Lakes just few minutes before. I got very exceptional service there. Boy Ali Ahmad helped me to find some stuffs. On self check out girl Anneliese greeted me with smily face. Thanks to both and especially Cardina Lake side Coles management. I am giving them 5 stars.

5 Replies to The 4 Best Coles Supermarkets in Pakenham, Australia
Excellent selection of products at a competitive prices. Staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I enjoy shopping very much at Coles supermarket Lakeside.
Two stars for your lovely, friendly staff. No stars for the complete absence of an international section. What you laughably refer to as “International” is limited to Mexican and East Asian. That’s it in total! When I mentioned this to the sales assistant and enquired about British goods, she laughed, “No, we don’t have anything British.” What’s funny about that? Rather sad, I would say. The Coles closest to my home stock a good range of British brands in what I would call a reasonable International range (i.e. one not comprising a mere 2 regions). Sorry, Lakeside, that is a major fail.
I avoid going here if I can. Zero customer service, and the store feels cramped.
The fresh food looks uncared for and not fresh. The fresh food is rarely stocked at appropriate levels, and I’m sure most of it has been sitting there suffering under the fluroscent lights for longer than required.
The bakery and bread area is abysmal. have seen more appetising baked goods in third world countries, sitting in carts covered in flies.
The breads are in two different sections! I would love to know what substance the store planner is currently on, because they must be tripping balls on a regular basis.
The self serve area is always horrible and congested. The attendant always looks like they are doing the world a favour by being there, and seem to be orbiting another planet other than earth. The dead eyed stare they give you is quite funny. It’s like a silent cry for help. If they weren’t so dull I would feel sorry for them.
Avoid this store if possible, unless you have time for an adventure.
Purchased full priced skin on salmon pieces at the deli yesterday and ended up with food poisoning that night. My partner was in so much pain and was vomiting his guts out, “Nurse On Call” recommended to take him to the hospital immediately.
Spent 3 hours there and with him on IV fluids. Luckily it subsided… but bed ridden still.
Should of learnt the lesson the first time we got food poisoning from (you guessed it) skin on salmon pieces from Heritage Springs Coles in Pakenham.
Never buying seafood from Coles again. Ever!
The carpark out the front has zero visibility as carpark lights are off. I think public safety trumps savings on electricity. Maybe you should prioritise Our safety over cutting costs.
Furthermore your store is a mess and your team had issues knowing what polenta is. Once iwe discovered that it was out of stock the attendant didn’t even bother offering to check the storeroom for any more. Very disappointing
