Best time to shop at Op Shops Australia
Op shops, also known as thrift stores or charity shops, are a great place to find second-hand clothing, furniture, and other items at affordable prices. While these shops have regular opening hours throughout the year, there are certain times when they offer even better deals and selection. Here are some tips on the best time to shop at op shops in Australia:
1. Seasonal Op Shop:
- Spring Op Shop – Many people use the spring season to declutter their homes and donate their unwanted items to op shops. This means that you can often find a great selection of clothes, furniture, and household items during this time.
- Summer Op Shop – Summer is another popular time for decluttering and donations, as people often take advantage of the warmer weather to clean out their homes. Look for summer clothing, outdoor gear, and picnic supplies during this time.
- Fall Op Shop – Fall is a great time to find cozy sweaters, jackets, and other cold-weather clothing items. You may also come across Halloween costumes and decor in op shops during the fall season.
- Winter Op Shop – Just like in the fall, winter is a good time to find warm clothing and accessories at op shops. Look for coats, hats, scarves, and gloves to keep you cozy during the colder months.
By shopping at op shops during the different seasons, you can take advantage of the items that are in high supply at that time. Whether you’re looking for spring dresses, summer beach gear, fall layers, or winter essentials, there’s likely to be a great selection at op shops throughout Australia.

6 months agoThe women working there have been incredibly rude on several occasions, both to myself and my partner, when we have been donating good quality items. Not sure if homophobia played a part but they were incredibly rude and disparaging, saying in earshot that they would not take anything from “someone who was dressed like that”. The donations, which were brand new, went to Hope charity store instead.2 years agoThis was a really good vinnies despite being in a small town. They had a great selection of books, which were also organized by genre which is rare in op shops. There were also a variety of other good quality clothing and other items, but the books were particularly good. I found series such as the hunger games and twilight here, as well as Stephen King novels.a year agoThe lady’s that volunteer were nice I had a nice look around and will b going back plus if you have a hubby or a partner that’s not into that send them to the art gallery while your doing your thing that’s what I do lola year agoWent in to buy a pair of pants and they wanted $30 dollalrs a pair. Kmart sells cheaper new clothes Also noticed they had a Nintendo 64 for top asking price $350.00 ,so much for not for profit!4 years agoLarge selection of second-hand clothes, ordinarily in very good condition, including hi-viz and other workwear. Some kitchenware but heavily skewed towards dainty knick knacks like porcelain jugs and lacking in items like basic saucepans. Decent selection of books. Some furniture, fabric and other items downstairs (stairs at rear of store protected by a child gate).

11 months agoReally good prices and availability of items. Easy to move around the shop to look at the available items. The staff are very friendly and are willing to accept donations.11 months agoWould be helpful if they either put the phone back on the hook or stopped talking all the time. Been trying to contact this place for two weeks without success. All I need to know is which days they accept donations. Not loading up the car and driving into town if they are not available to open the delivery section.11 months agoAn excellent variety of items to explore at very good reasonable prices. Shelves are kept very well stocked. Lovely staff too.a year agoProbably my overall favorite of Bathurst’s op shops. Friendly staff. Good selection of books, clothes and kitchen and other household items including some furniture. Much more space devoted to toys and other other items for kids and child-rearing than in the past.a year agoJust wonderful. What a treasure trove of great quality bargains! And lovely, friendly staff. Our first visit, will definitely not be our last.

5 Replies to The 5 Biggest Op Shops in Bathurst
This is a nice little Op shop with a good selection of quality items looking for a new home.
Most of the items are reasonably priced. Clothes, shoes and hand bags are only a dollar at the moment so well worth the look.
These people are so wasteful you think you’re doing something good by donating and they throw more than half the stuff away we noticed when we were last there I just wouldn’t donate to them plus some of the staff are nasty as avoid it and go somewhere else to donate to who actually appreciate it I would add some photos of the thrown out stuff that there’s nothing wrong with but why embarrass these people any further ?
Great place to shop, friendly staff..go there every wednesday theres always new things out to purchase
Absolutely no-one present when I went to donate goods recently. Not even a sign displayed to show people where to put donated goods, so all the items I donated I had to leave in a shed. I just hope no-one came in off the street & helped themselves. At least other charity shops have someone out the back to greet them when wanting to donate their unwanted items. Won’t be donating there again & I’ll tell all my friends not to leave their donated items there either.
What a great opp shop.
I bought a New knitted cardigan for $1
In navy blue.
Bargain!!
