2 weeks agoOne of my favorite spots downtown. They not only have a large selection of classic arcade games but they also offer a large selection of local Austin beers and ciders. The owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating and enthusiastically answered all my questions about the various toy collections and classic video games they have available to play. Who knew someone actually still owns a functioning Virtual Boy ? Kids will enjoy the classic games and their parents will revert back to their inner 8 year old selves when they relive their fond memories of N64 and endless hours playing with their cherished childhood toys. The new space is more than twice the size of the previous space and has allowed for an ever growing toy collection in display. They also have a large classic toy selection available for purchase. Definitely worth the time if you are in downtown Austin and want to go on a fantastic nostalgia trip and enjoy a beer while doing it !a month agoMy husband and I were visiting Austin for the weekend and walked from our hotel to the Toy Museum. It was $17 per adult. They had a small selection of snacks and beverages, including adult beverages in the lobby that was also a ‘gift shop’.The games were easy enough to access and play. The entire place was very crowded though and kind of thrown together. Apparently it’s their new location so they did have signs up saying display in progress.
Unless they are able to condense or rearrange the display cases and games, the ‘museum’ part is not easy to view.
They did have lots of really great toys. Hopefully they will put more effort into making them easier to view all of them.
in the last weekCame out of town and this was one of our stops. It’s a cool, small toy museum but arcade joysticks were not completely functional or had sticky buttons. I wish it had more to it but we were thrilled by seeing some of our childhood toys! .2 weeks agoSuper fun time. Brings you back in you lived in the 80s and 90s. A couple things could be cleaner but they have some really cool things. Play unlimited games for $17. I wanted to stay longer but definitely worth checking it out.2 months agoReally cool retro toy museam with arcade games. I’m only rating 4 stars because it’s a little cramped, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing since there is so much to see. The scavenger hunt fun, so be sure to try that. I had a blast playing the arcade games, too.

3 months agoI had an absolutely lovely visit today! The store is very charming, fits a surprising amount of things for it’s amount of space while still being organised, and has prices that are surprisingly affordable for a toy store. The cashier was super nice, too, I liked the atmosphere a lot. I bought a stuffed animal armadillo and some little animal good luck charms and have 0 buyers remorse.2 months agoThis place was so fun! They had pretty much everything from nostalgic 90s books to anime figurines. I mean seriously, books, board games, stuffed animals, pins, figurines, they have it all!! Great place to find a little Studio Ghibli, super heros, Rilukkuma, Hello Kitty, Scooby Doo, anime, I mean I felt like they literally had something for everyone. Such a fun store and I’ll definitely be back.2 weeks agoSeptember 2023:Toy Joy is a place to find that hard to find toy or collectable. You can literally spend a long time just browsing around looking at all the merchandise from international markets. This is one of my main places to shop for the holidays.
3 months agoIt was a nice little toy store a d had a huge selection for the size but something’s were decent pricing and some were priced higher than other toy places I’ve been too. The staff was okay.a week agoMy family was visiting Austin and we found this place to be overpriced on a lot of the toys they had. I am also a collector so I know overpriced when I see it. They were kinda rude and not very friendly at all. My wife asked for my toodler to use the restroom and the person there looked at my kids and looked like he didn’t know what to say. Then after a few awkward moments, we were told to go to candy store next door. We ended up leaving very disappointed with this place.

5 Replies to The 7 Biggest Toy Store in Austin TX, United States
We were on our way to Dragonslair and accidentally pulled up here because of the large dragon bust on the front of the building, but the longer we sat in the car and looked at it the more we knew we HAD to go in. Omg, I’m so glad we did. This is literally the coolest toy store we’ve ever seen. Lots and lots of cool trinkets and toys, all very cohesively organized. Modern and toys of yesteryear. On top of everything there was a lot of local art featured and for sale. I really loved the “local artist sticker machine”. Cool place! I hope to visit again next time we’re in Austin.
I’m a grown-up woman with no kids. However, when I go into this store I feel like a little kid at heart. The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. I always get top-notch customer service. I came in shopping for a bunch of cool, unique, fun, $15 and under birthday presents and was very pleased with my selection. My guests are going to love them! PS- To anybody reading this, if you are celebrating your birthday, go pick something cool out of their treasure chest. Thanks for Keeping Austin Weird! xoxo
Still the best big toy store around. Plenty of toys, organized by theme which helps if your kid wants something particular. Approachable pricing, so with a little preparation, you too can get your kid in and out, without pain in the pocket book! Kid-friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ahhh, gotta go back!
The older my kids get the less interested they are in toys and this makes me really sad because I love hanging out at Terra Toys.
This is the absolute best toy store in Austin. They have a very broad selection to choose from that caters to a range of ages. The staff is what makes this toy store perfect though. They aren’t just nice or polite; they wander through the store and interact with kids, demonstrating toys like puppets or magic tricks. They are very knowledgeable and give the impression that they love all matters of toys themselves.
Staff is more helpful and more friendly than ever. A wonderful experience and so much fun for my children.
