The Gold Coast, often referred to by its initials G.C., and officially the City of Gold Coast, is a city in Queensland, Australia. It is Australia’s sixth-largest city, the most populous non-capital city, and the state's second-largest city after Brisbane, with a population over 600,000. The Gold Coast is a coastal city and region located approximately 66 kilometres (41 mi) south-southeast of the centre of the state capital, Brisbane. The city's central business district is located roughly in the centre of the Gold Coast in the suburb of Southport. The urban area of the Gold Coast is concentrated along the coast, sprawling almost 60 kilometres, joining up with the Greater Brisbane metropolitan region to the north and to the state border with New South Wales to the south. Nicknames of the city include the ‘Glitter Strip’ and the ‘Goldy’. The demonym of a Gold Coast resident is Gold Coaster.
The area that became the Gold Coast was originally inhabited by the indigenous Yugambeh people. The city grew from a collection of small townships, the earliest being Nerang in 1865. From the 1920s onwards, tourism led to significant economic growth in the region, and by 1959 the Gold Coast was declared a city, with its first skyscraper being built in 1960. The Gold Coast boomed from the 1980s onwards with skyscraper construction. This era was defined by the city's ‘white-shoe brigade' developers, neon lights, and organised crime, particularly the yakuza and the Russian mafia. The late 20th century saw the city's tourism diversify with theme park openings, and in the early 21st century became an international destination for film production.
The Gold Coast has a diverse economy with strengths in health, tourism, arts and culture, and construction, with a GDP of $40.9 billion. The city ranks highly as one of the country's cultural and creative hotspots, alongside content creators, a growing video games industry, and leads Australia in startups per capita.
The Gold Coast is central to the nation's entertainment industry with a major film and television production industry, leading to the city's metonym of Goldywood. The Gold Coast is also host of the AACTA Awards and the Gold Coast Film Festival.
The Gold Coast is a major tourist destination with a sunny, subtropical climate and has become widely known for its surfing beaches (such as Surfers Paradise), high-rise dominated skyline, theme parks, nightlife, and rainforest hinterland.

We stayed for almost a week and wished we could have stayed longer. Perfect location with a beautiful view, close to the local pub, shops, a park, marine discovery centre and cafe across the road, and a short walk to the beach and lagoon. Danny and Sue will make you feel at home, the rooms are bright and clean, nicely furnished and the beds are very comfortable. They think of everything and do their best to help you unwind and enjoy your stay. The pool is beautiful and refreshing, the barbeques are clean (you even get a free pack including condiments, cutlery, dishes and utensils), and the place is family-friendly and quiet at night. Perfect. Thank you!

From the moment we arrived a few days before new years, we were pleasantly welcomed by Ray(?) with a big smile and great customer service, and I just knew we were going to have a good holiday. Danny was always checking in with us whenever we’d pass him, and the other staff were friendly and helpful ….. The rooms were modern and clean, and had everything you need, the beds were comfortable (I slept better than when I was at home!), and the swimming pool was in excellent condition, and open until 8pm which was great, we had a swim every day and couldn’t drag ourselves away from it….. thank you staff of the Terrigal Pacific, for making our stay such a pleasant one and a great way to start 2024!

Sue and Danny are so welcoming and so friendly. Love the colours around the rooms and hotel. The pool is so large and heated, enjoyable all year round. Best place to stay in Terrigal!

Great little place for a getaway. The 2 bedroom apartment was massive, clean, and had all that you’d need for a family or 2. Nice pool with poolside BBQ area (yes, they supply what you need Inc condiments). Pub only 100m or so up the road. Approx a 10 minute walk to terrigal Beach.

  1. It was good experience. Rooms were amazing , lake is safe for kids. Reception was lovely/ welcoming (Jo).
Cafe for breakfast was next level excellent.
staff is amazing, Chef Rita and Breda gave us the best food and hospitality experience. Hope to visit soon!

  2. We just had an overnight stay here and loved it. We were in room 14 on the first floor and the view over the water was great. Netflix option on the TV earns another tick of approval. We had a dip in the lagoon and there are paddle boats, boards and skis to hire. The surf beach is a short stroll away. The breakfast is advertised as the best on the central coast and after eating it I have to agree. My smashed avo was as good as it gets and was presented so well with all the little extras. My fresh juice and cappuccino were both outstanding also. All the restaurant staff members deserve special mention for the excellent, friendly service they provided. The pub is just across the road and it’s good too so we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Seven dog friendly rooms are available, just need to ring the hotel.

  3. From start to finish The Clan was amazing, fantastic room overlooking the lagoon, comfy bed, staff were exceptional, nothing was a bother. The breakfast was beautiful. Sensational location, lagoon is fabulous for the kids, and for the grown ups the beach just a stroll around the corner. We will be back.

  4. Pros:
    – Room view
    – Location near lake, ocean and 15 min walk from esplanade
    – Water pressure in shower
    – Aircon, Mini Fridge, Large TV
    – Free parking

    Cons:
    – Entire property in need of renovation: especially carpet and furniture outdated
    – Bathroom not cleaned after previous guests: dark hair, dirt and dust on floors, sink had tooth paste stains and splashes all over, random pile of dark hair in the shower, mold on ceiling
    – Balcony floor and table have coffee and soft drink (sticky) stains and so did the wall near the bin
    – The pipe of the toilet was dripping after flushing, accumulating a puddle on the floor

The location was great but in terms of price vs value the balance isn’t there. The rooms don’t match what’s advertised on the website at all. Maybe they did modernise a few rooms but they need to be more transparent about it. Reading other reviews, we considered ourselves lucky in regards to the room we received.
However, the cleanliness left much to desire

  5. Lovely clean place to stay and it’s right on the lagoon! Nice and quiet and has the best breakfast on the central coast,-Really! The poached eggs were perfect and that is a rarity. Very Accomodating staff, thank you Brenda and team! Will be back.
